knowing beforehand that they're gonna fuck up your order, but that it's useless to argue about it until the food comes

you may not know this unless somebody tells you:

servers fucking HATE it when you ask to do special shit with the food in the kitchen....they'll probably spit in it or drop it on the floor without telling you too.

in fact, servers HATE people like you. I bet you didn't tip, either...

the only time its been a real issue having to do something special when cooking was when a patient was allergic to mushrooms and we had to make sure no mushrooms got in her food at all, so we cleaned the stove top.

i have never minded when people alter an order or want something special. They are paying for it so why not give it to them the way they like it. Being a server, I hate other servers that have that attitude. And I have never even thought about spitting in someone's food. How fuckin trashy is that? Nor have I ever seen it done

I never minded if a customer had a special request, as long as they told me about it during the ordering process. It's not that hard to type in "no __________" in the computer. I only got annoyed when I brought the food out, and THEN they decided they didn't want _________, and had me remake the order. Read the damn ingredients on the menu - that's why they are printed.

But I never spat in anything. That's just nasty.

Also, this thread reminds me that I am very glad I no longer wait tables

i used to get pissed off at fast food when i would ask for them to not put something on, but then i got into serving.

now i have to make salads where i work and people will ask for me to leave stuff off, but then i will get back to the kitchen to make the salad and just go in to 'autopilot' and just toss on all the stuff they asked me not to put on it

point of the story, i don't get quiet as pissed off now. now giving me the wrong food or forgeting something that i ordered pisses me off even more now

I guess it would be easier if shit came plain and people had to request stuff on it. Then people wouldn't go in to 'autopilot' and throw shit on there that doesn't need to be.
