The check engine light came on yesterday & the car got a little jerky at times when I acclerated (usually when the car was changing gears, its automatic). Wouldn't happen every time the car changed gears, but more often than not. Even when the car doesn't get real jerky & seem to have issues when changing gears it still doesn't quite feel normal (if that makes any sense). Yet to check the transmission fluid (first thing I thought to do), due to the rain & it being dark when it happened last night. Any other ideas of what issue(s) could be at fault?

turn the key from off to run 3 times and look at the odometer. It'll display whatever error code is causing the CEL. Post that up and it'll be easier to find out what's wrong.

Yeh, the radio is always off when I start the car. I mean its just a Dodge Neon, so I suppose the car isnt new-fangled enough for this technology?

you go off-run-off-run-off-run, stopping on run the last time. You need to do this quickly, in like 5-6 seconds. The odometer will say DONE if there are no codes, or P3000 or whatever code if there is one, then DONE when it's showing the codes. the radio doesn't need to be off or anything. You just need to have the doors closed. being an auto makes it easier because you don't have the button that locks the key, do you.

I have an 04 neon srt-4 and have done this a few times. Being that you are on the same basic engine controller and the same dash and communications systems, it'll work.

the sensor is on the back of the head near the brake booster lines (back right as you are looking at the motor). It's a roughly $50 part and shouldn't take 15 minutes to replace. It's a somewhat common thing for the 2.4t, not sure about the 2.0. 30 in/lb for the target magnet and 80 in/lb for the sensor itself.
