ah it wasnt a derby thing. it was just cloudy all afternoon so we watched tv and did normal stuff you could do if you werent 50 yards from lake norman (love that place, so peaceful. wish i could go every day)

boating after dark is awesome.

lake norman is far from peaceful in the summer. Everyone and their redneck uncle is out there, in their motorboats, not knowing the rights of way.

the 2nd place horse supposedly broke both front ankles, and they had to pull ambulances up on all sides of it and euthanize it right on the track, like within 5 minutes of the derby ending.

it was on live tv yeah, but you could tell something was up cause they actually boxed the horse in with equine(?) ambulances

and its about an hour and a half from my house in gso to my uncles place down there. not bad at all considering we could crash if we wanted, dont have to do day trips. really fun folks

i dont know if you know where the airstrip is out there, its right there though
