Model # 42HDF52. Purchased 2 years ago for $1,718.00 - I know it isn't worth nearly that now. Works flawlessly and is currently mounted in my den if you'd like to preview it. I am looking to get $850. 5/4/2008 11:22:04 AM |

Well seeing how one can find a 720p 42 inch new for less, good luck selling.
Also wasn't there a thread earlier about how bad of a brand Hitachi is with HDTVs?

Price might be a little high. What problems did people have with this tv?
^^^Omar, feel free to give me an example of a 1080p for under 750.

^First off, that is a no name TV. Secondly, it is HD Ready, not an HDTV with built in tuner. Keep trying. Furthermore, it is refurbished, which means that it was returned for some reason - odds are it was broken at some point. Mine has never had a problem and is in like new condition. 5/12/2008 3:46:34 PM |

i agree with most of your points, but this one is stupid...there is nothing "like new" about a 2-year-old television, ESPECIALLY a plasma...an HDTV (plasma or LCD) from 2 years ago is not at all the same as a television today

better yet, go to dealcatcher.com and run an HDTV search.
http://www.dealcatcher.com/?search_word=hdtv&view_type=4
you will realize that i'm offering a very fair deal. you can look at new prices and refurbs and be more educated before you take a no name "HD Ready" tv that has been refurbished and try to tell me that i'm over pricing this tv. 5/12/2008 3:51:16 PM |

^^^^SVisa....since this is one of your first posts, I won't make you out to a complete moron, but "Akai LCT42Z6TM 42 inch 1080p HD Ready LCD Monitor - Refurbished" isn't exactly of an example of a New, Plasma, HDTV I know you tried hard, but there is no prize for "almost".

^^^Drunktyper I'm glad to see you think you are a season pro, but I think when Omar made his point he said nothing about a New, Plasma, HDTV. He just simply said a 1080p TV. I'm glad to see you think SVisa a 'complete moron,' but he found a 1080p TV and read the thread just fine, moron...
^I wasn't sure, I just remember reading some bad things about it. If that's the case ignore it then.

Oh sorry maybe I am stupid let me re-read. Oh wait yeah i was right he said nothing about New, Plasma, HDTV. Dumbass.
Omar said nothing about plasma, or a hdtv. Just a 1080p TV. He found it. You just assumed Omar meant plasma.

Hitachi is a solid TV. I think my price is a fair price. There is no reason for all of you to argue about the TV. Either you are interested in the TV and should post, or you should keep all of your comments to yourself.
This is classifieds, not chit chat. i am not trying to sell it for more than I bought it for - i am asking about 43% of what i paid for it just two years ago. I think it is a solid play. You can come view it for yourself. I have two Hitachi's because they are a great TV at a very reasonable rate.
Search for the model number on google - Hitachi 42HDF52 42" HDTV Widescreen Plasma TV - 42HDF52. It is still selling new for $1,250. $750 is quite a fair deal.
Please quit hijacking my thread unless you are an interested buyer.

this thread was hijacked as soon as you put the ridiculous price
why would anyone compare a new tv price to your 2yr old tv - you haven't even listed the # of hours the tv has been used - nobody cares about # of yrs of ownership...
best buy current ad http://www.plunder.com/Best-Buy-05-11-2008-Complete-pp-01-32-pdf-download-132360.htm brand new 720p plasma for less than your current "lowest price" - page 23 of the circular - it's a 13mb pdf file so dialup beware
you also didn't list the # of HDMI inputs so i'm going to assume it's 0...the only one that most people really care about for HDTVs - the one i listed has 2
[Edited on May 12, 2008 at 6:51 PM. Reason : just looked up the details on the tv - it's 103lbs - my 46" lcd weighs almost half of that]

well for one that marantz isn't a 1080p as was suggested by someone above, its only 720p. and its a refurb. and its was was probably manufactured around 4 years ago.
its also the exact same price as this one (with shipping).

i'm not really sure what the giant public hard-on for 1080p is.....except in tv's 50" and larger i'm pretty sure the human eye can't distinguish the difference in picture quality between 1080i and p at viewing distances greater than 7' or so
...so for a tv in this size range, i'm not sure that 1080p makes a difference to the average person (unless you're sitting abnormally close to the tv or simply need some sort of piece of mind)
....and unless you're running blu-ray/hd-dvd or a game/other source that's 1080p, it won't make a difference anyhow....the vast majority of the HD I watch (despite having both those movie formats) is TV, and the native resolution (at least for now) of every cable providers' HD channels is 720p/1080i 5/16/2008 12:18:01 AM |

^^ hitachi plasma i can't speak for, but hitachi rear projection lcd i can say was far from impressive. my former roommate got one about 2 or 3 years ago (hopefully they've improved) and we had it less than a week before calling BB to come get it. the greens were shifted almost shadowing the reds and blues, it sucked balls at going to black, etc. like i said, hopefully they've improved.
