Soooo the general idea behind this is great...but i know for me...atleast 1/2 the classrooms im in, i have NO service and would have no chance of getting a text if there was an emergency. I see that as a huge problem...opinions?

Um, the idea is that there's more than one way for campus police to let you know that something's happening... e-mail, text messages, the loudspeakers that they were testing during spring break. It's not just one thing only.

^ what they said, the texting is just one part of what is going on. In an actual NCSU emergency go to webmail or the ncsu homepage. All the texts and the loud speaker will say is "stay where you are and access the websites" or "evacuate" and give you directions.

idk, i still feel like there are too many flaws. i really feel like any one person could do what they wanted at any given time and have the consequences be just as big if not bigger than other events at schools.

^^^ Flaws or not, I've talked with some of the people that are on the team that built some of the systems that are now in place to let people know that something's happening. It's impossible to reach every single person, so you try to get to as many people as possible. Any system that you'd build that can reach every person is going to cost $texas. Believe me, they looked into it.

^^ They already have them around campus now.
