I'm having knee surgery the beginning of June. The surgeon is going to sign off on 2 weeks of short term disability for me but then I have to return to work. However he told me there's no way I'll be able to drive for 6 weeks.
How the fuck am I gonna get to and from work?! (none of my co-workers live nearby nor am I on their way in).

Go talk to Lynn Mendel at Disability Rehab. PM me if you want and I'll give you her number if I can get it.

Plan ahead. Meet an emotionally needy chick with a car and get her to latch onto you before the surgery. She can also cook, clean, and run errands for you.

^ NYC? Can you take public transport to work or are you not in the area serviced enough by subways? 5/6/2008 3:07:35 PM |

Ok, that's cool. But find a vocational rehabilitation office in NY, they're quick to help if your case doesn't require much paperwork. Best bet is to book a meeting and just sit down with someone and do it all in one session. 5/6/2008 3:07:48 PM |

^^If I could use public transportation easily I wouldn't drive to work in the first place. My piece of shit company moved to an Eastern Queens location (b/c its cheaper) far from any subway hub. For me to get to work using public transportation would require me to walk 7 blocks to the subway, take the subway 5 stops, walk 2 blocks, get on another train, take that 7 stops and then take another bus 3 miles. And then walk another 5 blocks to the office. 5/6/2008 3:11:56 PM |

Hence employment rehab... ignore it if you want to but if you do the paperwork, that shit will get you compensated. 5/6/2008 3:14:40 PM |
