Forget Obama vs. McCain for a second, people aren't realizing that they are losing seat after seat in congress right now in areas that WERE heavy republican. It's a terrible sign.
Quote : | "From Newt Gingrich:
The Anti-Obama, Anti-Wright, and Anti-Clinton GOP Model Has Been Tested -- And It Failed
The Republican brand has been so badly damaged that if Republicans try to run an anti-Obama, anti- Reverend Wright, or (if Senator Clinton wins), anti-Clinton campaign, they are simply going to fail.
This model has already been tested with disastrous results.
In 2006, there were six incumbent Republican Senators who had plenty of money, the advantage of incumbency, and traditionally successful consultants.
But the voters in all six states had adopted a simple position: "Not you." No matter what the GOP Senators attacked their opponents with, the voters shrugged off the attacks and returned to, "Not you."
The danger for House and Senate Republicans in 2008 is that the voters will say, "Not the Republicans."" |
---------------
Key points here:
- This is quite a radical idea in the current Republican world, which is under the impression that the increased voter registration and organizing around our long-drawn primary is a good thing for them.
- They labor under the fiction (shared by too many Clinton supporters) that voters will find Wright more detestable and relevant than George W. Bush, the shitty economy, and the never-ending war in Iraq.
- DESPITE all of this though, the GOP will be right back on Faux News talking about Rev. Wright until November. And I almost hope they do, because that's the only card they have and it isn't working.5/7/2008 10:01:43 AM |

fuck the republican party
they knowingly brought sexists, racists, homophobes, and virtually every other kind of bigot under their tent
they are inseparable from nearly all fundamentalist religious bullshit
the only things they are correct about are also supported by independents, libertarians, or sometimes liberals
so, there is no reason to be in the republican party
none
well, not unless you still dream of a white male christian world
if only there were a republican party grave I could piss on

The GOP has been on its last legs for a few years now. The only problem was that up until this point, the opposition was so badly organized that they failed to really capitalize on this. If you all don't remember, the Democrats barely pulled off 2006 and that's only because the Republicans did just about everything wrong. 5/7/2008 12:29:21 PM |

Well, luckily for the GOP there is only one thing the American public hates more than a crazy neocon, and that's a whiny liberal. If history shows anything, it's that the zealotry of one side of the aisle will quickly be trumped by the incompetence of the other. 5/7/2008 3:09:21 PM |

I would hope that would be the case. Unfortunately, the American electorate is made up of a large percentage of idiots.
I just saw a poll that said of those who named the Iraq War as the #1 issue in the campaign, only 28% could accurately answer very easy questions on it (ie-number of casualties, how long we have been there, etc). 5/7/2008 4:51:38 PM |

Voting for Obama is like letting a black guy in the fraternity.
He might "speak well" and "seem cool" but come next semester he's going to bring all kinds of niggers to the house to rush.
You don't let ants get inside your house. Its much easier to keep them at bay than it is to get rid of them once they've spawned in your storage closet.
Snap the fuck out of the "i wanna live in my parents basement" mentality and start voting for sound economic policy instead of hippy bullshit that the Democrats pledge their allegiance to.
No educated person would support George Bush in principle, its just that Democratic policy is so flawed that the world is better off delaying gay rights than they are shutting down profitable businesss. I'd rather vote alongside rednecks than liberal scum that can't see the forest through the trees.

that part is ridiculous too. I make a salary above an arguable middle class line, have minor investments, own my own home, and could give a shit at the extra 1K or so I'll pay if a Dem takes office. Some of us give a shit about things beyond our own tax return. You know, some of us believe extra spending will make the country a stronger place. You can label it evil, socialist, latte sippin', i dont give a fuck. I see it as an investment in areas this country needs help with.
After all, take a look at where your precious administration has gotten us over the past 8 years. Mr. 28% himself.
You know it's freaking tax that is the only reason the repubs even have any younger ranks whatsoever. The allmighty dollar. That's fine..... but fact is...it's bullshit views like rally's that turn more and more potential party members away with the dinosaur mentality. 5/8/2008 1:55:27 PM |
