Been reading a bunch on this topic lately...

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20452568-NEWS-Cable-Broadband-Users-Get-Ready-For-Overage-Fees

Why should the users pay more for usage just because the ISP doesn't want to use the money we pay to increase the capabilities of their own networks.

I think that the real issue here is that the ISP, especially the Cable TV/ISP's don't want you using your bandwidth to receive TV's services. As the article suggests DirecTV is implementing a way to receive VOD services over your own internet connection.

Screw TWC and their monopoly in North Carolina!

Why do i have to pay $80/month for 400 channels when the only channels i watch 95% of the time are HBO and like 5 others.

Why does Microsoft charge me $8 bucks to download new maps when i already pay $9.95/month for XBOX live, paid $400 for my xbox360, and paid $50 for CoD4.

Why does AT&T let me get 5MB of internet usage for $5 but pay $5 in overages for the next 500KB

Why did Bank of America charge my grandma $50 in overdraft fees to move HER money from her saving account to her checking account; yet it only costs me $0.50 cents at SECU. Does the computers at BoA running the bank software costs 100x greater to keep on to run the transfer protocol.

Assuming AT&T DSL wont be doing the same thing, I would definitely move as soon as it was announced that caps were coming to Raleigh...the top package is "comparitive" to RR standard, and you get a bunch of money back for switching from cable or bundling with satellite.

Well well well.

Maybe the next time Raleigh/Cary decide to hold public hearings on who their telco is going to be, you'd be bothered to show.

Meanwhile, lets all stare in envy as Verizon continues to rollout FiOS in durham.
