you on the road?

ok. long story short. i have the cadillac ext back.
i had to take it in for some repairs this week and they gave me a chevy cobalt to drive.

and omg people are fucking RUDE.

ie. i was at a roundabout and there were cars coming in on the opposite side.
none of them had their blinkers on and i dont simply trust they are going to turn right beside me.
so i'm waiting for a line of three cars and the person behind me fucking LAYS on the horn.
wtf?

this is just one example.
it's been like this all week.
i'm driving the same way i always do (defensively)
and people are being jerks.

anyone else experience anything similar?

is it the size of the car you think?

mainly just different reactions from girls

like when I'm in the Mazda, its usually the 'yeah I'd fuck you, but you'd have to work for it' look

but when I'm driving homey's jag, its the 'where do I sign up to suck your cock' look

In general, I'm more likely to be rude to someone driving a big SUV than any other type of vehicle. Not sure why, but I assume you are a huge douche if your car is that large. Yes, there are exceptions.

If someone's being a pansy about entering a roundabout (not saying you were, just related example) then I don't care what car they're driving they're gonna hear from me.

But overall, yeah I can see the type of car affecting how some people will react.

I would have thought people would be more rude to a person in an overly expensive car.

From your story you didn't do anything wrong. I never trust peoples turn signals until I actually see them slow down significantly or start turning. I'm not risking getting t-boned because some dumbass was driving around with their blinker on without knowing it.

There are many flaws in the way the roads are engineered here. Also, they just can't support the growth. Stop being a fucktard.

I was actually thinking about this yesterday..

I think people's cars say a lot about them...

i was sitting out with my dog at our park looking at my neighbors cars.
My next door neighbor drives a 1996 camaro v6... she's into country and a bit of a redneck
the girls that live below her:

One drives a volvo C60 and is very stuck up and money centered with a rich family
the other drives a 4 DOOR 4 Cylinder honda accord about a 2001 which to me says she doesn't care about her car and in actuality she is a laid back-chill kinda girl.

Now the girls that live below me drive a 2002 v6 coupe honda accord which to me says she wanted trendy and kinda fast. Well she's a post college but still verry sorrostituted out kinda girl and talks like a valley girl. Her roomate drives a nearly new volvo c40 she is the exact same way but with a richer family.

I drive a lifted jeep and consider myself rugged and goofy

the other guy that lives on the 1st floor drives a vw jetta thats ragged the hell out with punk stickers all over it cause he's in the i don't care post-teen angst mode

While I agree with your statements, that doesn't mean its worse than most places. Try driving around most of the cities up in the northeast and then try crying about Raleigh's roads. You can't even make a comparison.

Yeah I hear that. 2 weeks ago someone started doing a K turn in front of me coming from the other direction. YES, A K TURN!. i was going about 35 when he started doing this. I simultaneously slammed on the brakes and the horn. Asshole just gave me the my bad wave. I could smell my tires for the next 2 miles of driving.

I don't think that woman was honking at you. I honk at people all the time that are 2 cars up. Something else to consider is that if you're in a tall vehicle and stop short people behind you can't see anyone in front of you and think its you being a fucktard. I've done this a lot, and when I later see another car ahead of them as the reason I feel stupid

Well see thats different joie, If you didn't seek out any of your cars specifically than you didn't show any of your personality in choosing the car and shouldn't be judged accordingly

I also have a 1957 t-bird but i really don't know what that says about me ...

This reminds me of something yesterday.

I was in the , accelerating from a red. This woman is right up on my ass - I'd say less than a foot from my bumper at 35mph. In the rain. Without her lights on. I gave her a couple seconds to back off, and when she didn't, I brake-checked that bitch. She backed off, and oh, it felt so good.

Quote :

Likewise. I assume much less about drivers than I used to, though. An example, also from yesterday: this 'neck in a truck so lifted that the tops of his tires were at my eye level (I drive a ford escort, which isn't exceptionally low), just sitting and revving his engine at the light...let me in front of him a little ways later (some fuckstick on a cell phone was going ~15 below on 70, so I turned on my blinker).

Incidents like that, and then actually seeing 3 or 4 kids spill out of an SUV have made me slightly less judgmental.

I'm still an aggressive driver though. I just try to hold off on being a prick
- to give you a chance to stop fucking up
- make sure being a prick is actually warranted

I didn't say it was worse than most places, I said the roads were poor. I am originally from the NE and wasn't crying, nor was I making any comparison to any other city. I was just saying the traffic here has gotten to a point where they need some new systems instead of continuing to build the same old style of roads (like 20' wide roundabouts and having every exit criss-cross another. that kinda shit doesn't exist in bigger areas.)

The solution isn't to build shit differently, but to educate drivers better (seriously, people, just because there are two stop signs for crosswise traffic doesn't make it a 4-way stop :mission valley: ), regulate offenses better (including actually punishing people for fucking up), and have higher requirements for getting licensed.

Like at work last weekend: this woman comes in bitching about being ticketed for parking in the fire lane. The exchange went something like this (with a campus cop, not me, thank god)
"I got a ticket!"
"Sorry maam, but that's transportation, not campus police"
"For parking in a fire lane. I won't parked in no fire lane!"
"Is that your car I see right there on the curb?"
"Yes"
"You're in a fire lane"
"Thar ain't no sign!"
"The curb is red and says 'no parking FIRE LANE'"
"But thar's no sign. That means it ain't a fire lane!"
"Maam, take it up with transportation"
