idea:

since tww radio costs me money to run (ends up being like $40/month - not a lot, but it adds up)

maybe a tww-esque subscription model could work?

have the free stream which plays like 3 30-second ads every 15 minutes or so

and a premie stream that's ad-free

maybe charge $1/month for it... or $.50/month... not much at all, just enough to let the aggregate earnings pay for the server

any money left over after the server is paid for that month could go to cool shit like buying prizes to give away on-air, etc.

ideas? suggestions? blatant criticisms?

also note that i wouldn't even consider doing this until everything's up and running (and has been running for 2 months or so with no problems)

^^ pm sent, b.

^yeah, tell me about it - i'm the one that has to pay for this shit every month
80 people paying $.50 each every month > 1 person paying $40 every month

just put in a few ads. people won't mind them and if you have a good userbase you could make more than if you had a subscription service in place.

I don't think anyone wants to pay for something that is likely to go down if someone hurts your feelings.

isn't a better idea to get the damn thing running FIRST. then think about how to offset your cost.

You're here putting the damn cart WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY before the horse

^^that's not why it went down in the first place, learn the facts before you attempt to shit on someone, thx

^the majority of the reason it's not up right now is i couldn't justify spending time on getting it working again when i was LOSING money on it in the first place... so it would be nice to know that i won't be out $40/month for something like this before i invest even more time in it.

you people are pretty fucking ungrateful.

Would offering it as a subscription service or a 'for profit' service via Advertising draw unwanted legal attention to you? (all this is assuming that you arent legally allowed to be broadcasting this music, if im wrong then disregard my previous question)

I wouldnt have a problem paying for a service like this each month but as already mentioned, i think youll have much more success covering your costs if you throw in a few ads every hour.

^that's part of the monthly cost, i pay licensing fees for the music played, so this is (surprisingly, for me) legal
