i'll tell you one thing - getting married anytime M-F is much cheaper. we're talking potential savings in the thousands.

if you've got a place that charges per person (like Delightful Inspirations) then it can definitely save you a lot of money by doing it during the week. 5/18/2008 4:39:09 PM |

It sounds like a nice private wedding, close family and friends, downtown Raleigh. I had a long talk with the bride's grandmother when we signed the contract about how wedding photography has changed over the years, they see like a quiet family.
Unlike mine.

sure you save money but you really are fucking your guests hard.... sure you may save a couple thousand but you're billing your guests an extra couple hundred dollars each in vacation time. ] 5/18/2008 4:47:09 PM |

We did shoot up a frenzy, and for good reason - so much was going on, everything looked so great. It was the first time I saw Annie literally break her reception gallery into sections, lol. Most I've ever done was halves, not thirds. 5/18/2008 4:47:34 PM |

how are you billing your guests extra? they'd attend a wedding on a saturday just as they'd attend one on a monday. however, it just so happens that most people work during the week, so it wouldn't be a long reception. i don't see how it's going to cost guests to attend a wedding during the week as opposed to a weekend. 5/18/2008 4:49:54 PM |

if they have to travel or take off work... i mean i guess maybe everyone your inviting could be within 30 min of the wedding but if they have to take monday off to go to your wedding... thats $$$$ you just pretty much charged them to see you get married 5/18/2008 4:51:55 PM |

anyone out of town has to take off time from work - even people that are only a few hours drive would possibly have to take off work to either get there in time or to be home at a reasonable hour - anyone flying has to take off at least 2 days from work5/18/2008 4:51:58 PM |

Um, these are all close family/friends as I already mentioned. All local. I don't see that as a big inconvenience. 5/18/2008 4:53:37 PM |

i guess i wasn't thinking about all the out of town guests, but if it's family then it shouldn't matter. my uncles and cousins live in connecticut, and they left on thursday at midday, drove to NC and got here early friday morning. they were here for the wedding on saturday, stuck around on sunday, and drove back first thing monday morning. but they're family, they didn't consider it an inconvenience.

Yes, it would be a big inconvenience for out of town guests, but if that's not an issue, Monday would be a great day for a wedding.
One of my friends got married on a Friday, and it was great to have the whole weekend to visit. They had a casual brunch on Saturday and then everyone kind of ended up walking the Freedom Trail that afternoon/evening. I would never have taken Friday off from work for a Saturday night wedding unless I happened to be a bridesmaid, so it did 'cost extra' from that standpoint, but whatever. 5/18/2008 5:07:03 PM |

I was married on a Saturday because my husband's family had to come in from another state for the wedding. Getting married on a weekday would have meant that his side of the church would have been practically empty. Since we were married on a Saturday, his extended family made a big weekend vacation out of it. 5/18/2008 6:11:50 PM |
