Yes. I was coming back from getting supper and I saw the cops and fire truck at Nazareth and Western.
WRAL told me over the phone that a bicyclist had been hit. No further details. 5/19/2008 7:42:04 PM |

with most drivers being idiots, anyone who rides a bicycle on the street that isnt residential is just asking for trouble. people take their own risks. just stay on the sidewalks or take the bus if you have to. otherwise, this happens. 5/20/2008 10:10:01 AM |

^^ I was waiting for that one.
1. I'm kind of surprised that WRAL didn't link this to the woman cyclist that was killed. I mean, two cyclists hit on the same road in a matter of weeks? Seems like a story to me.
2. I don't ride a bike around Raleigh, but a metropolitan area such as this probably should have more bike lanes. I haven't given this a great deal of thought, but maybe Raleigh officials could add a few more lanes here and there in the future? Maybe?
PS: Apparently, Raleigh is doing this--I didn't realize it when I typed 2.

city planning. take whatever is needed and wait 10 years. then you may have it if the funds didnt run out. but by then you need 3x what you originally planned for. 5/20/2008 11:06:15 AM |

it seems that no one realizes the speed limit is 25 on that road either
cops will probably start patrolling it more now 5/20/2008 11:16:14 AM |

^ Yep. And two other things:
1. That hill right after SECU makes it hard to see oncoming traffic.
2. I've seen motorcycle cops sit on the sidewalk down by Western and shoot radar up Nazareth. BOLO. 5/20/2008 12:04:54 PM |
