Quote : | " SACRAMENTO, California (Reuters) - A California bill proposing a 25 percent tax on revenues from adult entertainment would do little to ease the state's budget shortfall and would cost the state money by encouraging its pornography industry to move, opponents said on Monday as lawmakers reviewed the bill.
The legislation would especially hurt the economy of the San Fernando Valley, the Hollywood of pornographic filmmaking, said opponents, who included several dancers and other adult entertainment performers and employees at a hearing on the bill in the state capital, Sacramento." |

^^I'm not sure if they directly tax the porn, itself, however, the side economic benefits of having those high money-making, tax-paying individuals living in California will be lost. There is going to be an impact, even if it isn't direct. Although it wouldn't bother me, I get all my porn from Japan.

Dont be an idiot. While they might not be paying a majority in sales tax, they do pay salaries, SS, medicare, unemployment, coorporate taxes, utilities, etc...5/20/2008 4:43:08 PM |

You must be very young or naive.
Not everyone pays these fyi. But for whatever their legal employee does pay, the business has to match some of thier taxes(SS, Medicare). So losing that industry will hurt that area financially simply bc they dont agree with it. Also the business or coorporation will have to pay coorporate taxes as well.5/20/2008 5:05:36 PM |
