Id take it in a heartbeat if it wasn't only 3.2 MP ... great camera if it had the pixel quality behind it. 5/27/2008 9:25:15 AM |

well.. yes and no.
a quality zoom allows you to frame a pic quite nicely. I rarely crop my pics w/ this camera and if you don't crop a lot out, 3.2mp is quite adequate. I have printed 8x10"s hanging in my house from this camera that looks great.
It is maybe easier to just quickly point and shoot w/ a 5+mpx and then crop to frame later. *shrug*
pixels are cheap these days, hence the high numbers. Most people would certainly be better served by buying good optics over a lot of pixels. 5/27/2008 10:58:37 AM |

another free bump. i just bought a rebel xsi and still kept this camera because i like the way it works so much. takes awesome pictures, and 3.2 mp is more than enough for most things you're ever going to do with pictures. canon also makes an AWESOME underwater case for this thing which is another reason mine was worth keeping and this one worth buying. 5/31/2008 11:39:34 PM |

you may also consider: 1. Ebay it - in decent condition they are sold for ~100.
2. Canon recently issued a recall for S1 having CCD problem - they show only black picture. http://www.canon-asia.com/index.jsp?fuseaction=image-phenomena_notice However, Canon run out of S1 parts and sending S5 as replacement. More discussion here: http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/digital-cameras/canon-powershot-s1is_question.html?qid=8777 Put your camera into the shower room for a week or two to make humidity and temp to kill the CCD (or take it apart and kill CCD manually), and get S5.
3. Ebay it mentioning that your camera has black screen sometimes. Those are sold for ~200 - a lot of people use 2nd option to get S5. 6/20/2008 4:14:02 AM |
