I don't pay much attention to soccer but did ronaldinho have a sucky season or something, wasn't he FIFA POY year last year?

Stop trying to be some "football" snob and put fucking soccer in the title. I guess since Beckham failed to make soccer popular in America the few fans left have to resort to tricking the rest of sports fans into false interest by misnaming thread titles.

did you really think a thread with the word "footballers" in the title was going to be a good thread about American football?

hmm, throughout most clubs seasons this would be my team:

CF: Luca Toni
CF: Fernando Torres
RW: Lionel Messi
AttCM: Franck Ribery
CM: Michael Ballack
LW: Cristiano Ronaldo
RB: Sergio Ramos
CB: Rio Ferdinand
CB: Nemanja Vidic
LB: Gianluca Zambrotta
GK: Petr Cech

7 man Champions League Bench:
GK: Gianluigi Buffon (cause Cech is gonna get injured haha)
LB: Patrice Evra
CB: Carlos Puyol
CM: Kaka
CM: Steven Gerrard
CM: Alex
CF: Filippo Inzaghi(clutch scorer)

that team cant be beaten in an all star format. the man utd duo might seem a little bit biased since im a man utd fan, but their defense was the best in england and the best in europe and vidic and ferdinand were the big reason for that.

So what's Real Madrid's excuse? A few years back they had an all start lineup.

^I was going to ask the same question.

Also JTMONEY, I was going to say that Vidic and Ferdinand had kinda bad games in the Champion's Final, but then thought about it some more and I guess they kinda shut down drogba for most of the game, so yeah, pretty solid D.

Go troll somewhere else, asspirate.

The reasoni I didn't put Kaka on the field is because he's all show and no go.

Hear me out.

Kaka gets rested before every big game. No other player I named is afforded that sort of luxury. Plus, it's to Milan's benefit that they're not dominating Serie A. They've got the Liverpool complex - do just well enough to get into the UCL qualifying spots, play hard for 13 games a year, lather, rinse, repeat.

It says a lot when teams no longer compete or even care to compete in their own domestic league.

And Drogba gets not love because he's a petulant shitbag. I thought he was great last year, but this year he's just showing his ass because his friend got shitcanned. There's no room for that in any professional sport. You get paid to chase ball around. Get some damn perspective.

Thats because most citizens of other countries are too stupid to understand any other sport. So they like soccer because hardly anything ever happens, and the score never gets high, so they are able to follow it.

madrid always have an all star lineup..they just tend to have coaches that either suck, or arent given enough time to get the team settled/going

Because most domestic leagues play a fall/spring season.

Thread goes less than 2 days without a reply and you have to BTT it?? Let it drop out of the public eye just like the real sport has. If anyone cared, you would not need to BTT it. Just like if anyone in America cared about soccer, it wouldn't be behind bowling as far as we are concerned. "Beckham will save soccer in America" Yeah that went over really well, he already wants to jump ship back to Europe. Atleast with bowling there is some excitment when someone hits a strike, soccer doesn't even have that. Your sports loses to a sport that fat guys play while drinking beer and smoking. That has to hurt.

yeah i see why boruc and van der sar could jostle with buffon for a place on the team-sheet but i think he's just too consistent and has proved himself time after time. and van der sar is a bit shaky at times...boruc is top-class and should get a move to one of the big clubs; hopefully milan.

my team would go something like this...

forward - torres and KJH

mid - from left to right - ashley young, steven gerrard, michael essien, and c. ronaldo

defense - evra, vidic, rio ferdinand, daniel alves

goalie - buffon or cech, theyre both sweet

my bench would have messi, jaime carragher, benzema, samir nasri, ribery, tevez, freddy adu

I have a strong premiership and man utd bias but oh well
