i was there in march, but i didn't get to do much "fun" stuff while i was there. i was a chaperone for a high school trip, so we only did the touristy stuff.

yeah i was gonna put football but i didn't want to sound pretentious. that'd weird that all the pubs close so early over there. you'd think they were 24/7 or something. anyway, go to a crazy euro club or something pick up some english sloots with your suave american accent.

holy shit, I've been to London, and it was awesome.

Just walk around and find some of the pubs that aren't on any of the main roads, those are usually the best (best deals on beer, nice hotties, good people to party with).

also check out the palaces and all the chapels, etc that are there. do several of the tours (especially on the big red bus) because those are cool.

go to saint paul's cathedral, and walk the stairs to the top, great views of the city.

if you can't find anything cool to do in London, you're not really getting out. (or you are walking with blinders on).

There's no outside alcohol in this hostel. So we've been riding the tube around drinking 1.09 stellas.

Other than that I would recommend getting to Picad/Leisceter. During the day go and check out Trafalger (you can easily walk to the Palace) and the National (Art) Gallery there.

go to the British Museum and see the Rosetta Stone

walk around with an open container since its perfectly legal.....

go to the Tower of London, it might be a little tourist cliche....but its cool to see that old compound superimposed on the modern cityscape

just fucking walk around, people over there are cool as shit.

My girlfriend spent a month in London on Study Abroad two years ago. Here are her suggestions:

Thing to do…

-The Victoria & Albert museum is pretty badass. Use the South Kensington tube stop for the V&A.

-Both the Tate and the Tate Modern are must-see. Plus they are right next to the Thames. You can actually take a river boat to go between the two museums.

-The eye is so-so, but you can get an equally awesome view of the city by climbing St. Paul's. I think there might be a fee to climb the stairs to the top, but it's definitely less than the Eye, and much cooler.

-Steer clear of Leicester Square/Picadilly Circus at night for clubs/bars. Very very very tourist-y. But, it is pretty nice to walk around that area at night…lots of stuff and people to look at. For cheap pints, head towards the university side of town. "The Goose" is a pretty cool pub right by the U. of London. Take the Russell Square stop.

-See a West End show, if you are into that. You can purchase half price tickets the day of the show, in the late afternoon. Just walk around West End and look for the half price booths.

-Buckingham Palace is cool to look at from the outside. It's also right up against one side of Hyde Park, so you could just walk through the park to take a look at it.

-Regents Park is better. Most beautiful park I've ever seen. Must go. Trafalgar Square stop, I think? Or around there

-walk Oxford Street

-Greenwich…you have to take a short train ride out there, but if you buy an oyster card for the tube, the train will be covered as well.

^thanks for the tips. We did a lot of that. It just sucks cause shit closes so early here. It's hard to get good food past 8-9 and most pubs close at 11-12. Clubs do stay open late but that's about it.
