title makes it pretty clear that i know nothing about bikes so im sure there is a name for the part i need (seat pole or seat post mabey) but i dont know
i have a bike, however, the seat is attached to the pole that slides in to the bike and that pole is WAY to tall for me. Im also not interested in spending more then around $15 for a new one.

Just make sure you leave enough there for about 3" to actually go into the seat tube. 5/28/2008 12:41:20 PM |

just loosen the bolt around the female pole and lower it.

^ First decent response in this thread. The seat post is made to go up and down. If you're lucky there is a quick release lever that you can just flip open, lower the post, and then close. You may need a wrench instead.
Loosen the silver bolt right where the silver seat post goes into the black frame on this bike:

Haha, I was wondering why she needed a SHORTER seatpost.
I figured she had already lowered it and still needed it to be shorter for some reason. 5/28/2008 2:54:48 PM |
