So I come from a reaaaaaaaal backwoods country town, and that song was played at every party/wedding I ever went to. Naturally I know the lyrics.

Well one night at Jax I was with my friends, and I got up and sang it with like 12 guys. I had no clue why the crowd was looking at me funny until I found out that David Allan Coe had a lot of songs about not liking black people

Leroy the Big Lipped Nigger is one of my all time favorites, and some song about Jiggaboo.

It sounds like a lot of you are confusing DAC with Johnny Rebel. This a common mistake among the uninitiated.

^ Yes he did. On the Undergound Album (i think). But he made it clear that song was suppose to be satire. But, if you take everything you hear at face value i'll save you some time on a few other things. Sara Silverman is racist (she mocks black people). So is Don Rickles (ditto). And so is...actually I think I'll let you find out on your own. It will probably be more fun that way.

Just to state again...the person singing in your video (Nigger Hating Me) is JOHNNY REBEL NOT DAVE COE. They are two different people. They don't even sound the same. For some reason a lot of people have them confused and I can I imagine it's because they don't know jack about country music.

David Allen Coe is a moderately big-name country singer from back in the day. He had several pretty big hits that got significant radio airplay, and he had a number of other songs that were either more famously recorded by other artists, or that he never recorded but was the songwriter for other artists.


He did record a couple of "underground" albums with all of the X-rated and sometimes racist lyrics (though not all of those songs are racially themed. Lots of them are sexually explicit, with a particular emphasis on fellatio, though that is not to exclude masturbation and anal sex. I don't think he's ever performed these songs live, though...if he has, it's been a long time.

While he was never a mainstream, slicked-up Nashville, Porter Wagoner-type, he got significantly more out in left field over the last 20 years. Hell, just look at pictures of him--back in the 70s and 80s, he just looked like a dirty redneck. Sometime in the 90s, I think, he turned into a pretty hardcore counterculture, just escaped from prison--looking, Blackbeard the pirate--looking dirty redneck (side note: he did do a significant amount of time in prison, i think, but it was before his recording career. i've heard that he killed a dude in prison that they never could pin on him, but that may be just DAC running his mouth. I don't know.)

ha, a pretty rough one. I saw him probably 5 years ago or so, and I thought that I might end up having to fight my way out. Everything ended up fine, but it's a pretty rough (though definitely mixed) crowd. He didn't play much country stuff, though (and none of the dirty stuff). Played a lot of metal, actually...Pantera covers, etc.
