ok so the tech guy just left and finished installing my digital cable box for time warner cable. I go to hook up the hdmi cable from the box to my tv and it won't give a signal. Do I need to get him back out here to get it to work or what?

Does your TV support HDCP? If not, the HDMI connection won't work.

I have a picture from my hdmi but no sound. on my tv menu it has two different digital audio outputs (RAW, PCM). I need to know the difference between the two or what cable I need to hook up to my tv to get audio.

sorry if this is stupid, i'm new to the hd thing and forgot to ask the twc tech guy installing it.

i had the same problem

there is an option in the TWC settings where you can change the sound output to HDMI

just press the Settings button on your controller and look for the option in there

Click Settings

Then scroll up and click 'Devices'

then scroll down to where it says 'Audio'

you can change the audio output there

Yeah I went through a similar amount of fun and WTFing trying to figure out my cable box.

God bless TWC for having such wonderful receiver boxes for us to use...

the HDMI box we have here is the slowest, most unstable piece of shit I have ever seen

it takes like 20 seconds just to resume playback or change a channel, you have to press the play button twice when fast forwarding otherwise it starts in some weird slow motion mode, pretty much every menu is unusably slow, it randomly fails to record shows in different ways- it'll either not save the show at all, or save a corrupt version of the show that will play back to a certain point and then freezes playback, refusing to proceed even if you fast forward

oh, and it crashes randomly requiring it to be power cycled

since you are new to the game, you need to know about press and hold these three buttons... Vol. UP & DOWN & INFO.

The HDC/OCAP models are notorious for not working worth a shit, and need a frequent reboot.

Also, there is no ch. 999 on the HDC lineup's. To access the diagnostics, press and hold the select button on the remote, once the mail indicator light starts blinking press arrow down on the remote.
