http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/05/obama.thursday/index.html
Article is pretty long, this is the part I thought was most relevant:
Quote : | "Obama told a crowd in Bristol that going forward, the Democratic National Committee would no longer accept money from federal lobbyists or political action committees.
"We're going to change how Washington works," he said. "They will not fund my party, they will not run our White House, and they will not drown out the voice of the American people."
" |
I'm pumped about this election. McCain is stressing an honorable campaign and Obama is ditching special interests. This is very very good for the country imo.6/5/2008 3:47:58 PM |

Uh obviously you didn't listen to McCain's speech Tuesday night. Obama is the special interest candidate he is controlled by the PACs and federal lobbyists. This is a lie and nonsense. 6/5/2008 3:49:14 PM |

Size doesn't matter.
They wouldn't invest money in politics if it didn't pay off. 6/5/2008 3:54:38 PM |

You kids sure are gullible.
"Obama's ban on lobbyists money is not ironclad. He does accept money from lobbyists who do not do business with the federal government and he also accepts money from spouses and family members of lobbyists. He has had unpaid advisers with federal lobbying clients, and some campaign officials also previously had lobbying jobs."
The DNC raised more than $3 million so far this election cycle from lawyers and lobbyists, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.
The Republican National Committee raised $1.1 million this election cycle from lawyers and lobbyists, according to the center.

I hope it's true, but I find some of it difficult to swallow. A lot of those federal lobbyists and political action committees are key Democratic allies, and given how cash starved the DNC is right now, they need those funds now more than ever. 6/5/2008 5:19:52 PM |

might as well quote the rest of it too eyedrb
Quote : | "So far this election cycle, the DNC has raised $77.6 million and had $4.4 million cash on had at the end of April. The RNC, however, had raised nearly twice as much and had $40.6 in the bank." |
