that's awesome. He doesn't even really flinch. I've done that a few times, only once intentionally though. The umpire was actually being a dick to our catcher yelling to my coach that we needed to find somebody that can block balls. So he got one to the chest, but I don't think it hurt him since we were only like 13. Now Harris Honeycutt is pitching in the minors somewhere.

bitch move by the players...i don't care how bad the guy is, you don't do that to the game...

also, why did the catcher bail, he could've just moved his glove and it wouldn't have been so obvious

That's how umpires usually get hit. He pretended he called curveball, and the pitcher threw a fastball. I don't know what kinda curve that guy has that drops like 6 feet though.

If I'm the coach of that team, both of those guys are suspended, regardless of what the league does.

this should be done to some umpires for sure. baseball can be a political game. say the umpire was friends with the coach of the other team and the strike zone is smaller for your pitcher than the other team. i'm not saying that this was acceptable behavior, just saying some umpires deserve it.

He probably wasn't expecting to flinch since the ball always comes flying at the catcher.

They don't let officials do games where they have friends on other teams. All officials are neutral and if anyone is caught doing something like this they would be fired on the spot and would probably have to do Little League games for the rest of their lives.

Good, that's exactly the action that should have been taken to punish this dumbassery.
