my minds made up. i want dual citizenship, and a job, apartment in London. at least for 2 years.


what's the best way to make this happen? i'm starting the job search now, but not sure how easy it is to accomplish.

unless you have parents or grandparents from there, the liklihood of you getting dual citizenship in that timeframe is next to none.

If you're not a citizen, you have to get a company to sponsor your visa in order to live over there.

yeah, i know. i dated a girl from there that vacationed in Miami last year for about 2 months. i figure my options would have to be a sponsored work permit or possibly marriage.

i'm heading there in the next 3 weeks to visist a friend thats moving there now. his company relocated him there from Chicago.

^ i don't worry about this argument. people that say that would say the same for NYC, Miami, D.C., Los Angles, etc. the most expensive cities in the world are often that because they are the best places to live. i mean i'm a city boy . . . why would i not live in a major city?

I know you aren't a real person, but someone who is real might find this thread one day, so I'll help them out. You might think that NYC or DC or LA are pretty expensive places to live, and that is true. But keep in mind the exchange rate right now. I haven't checked recently, but at least a few months ago,
£1 = $2. So picture how expensive it would be to move to DC and set up shop there, now double it. Housing there is especially expensive... my uncle owns a townhouse in Edmonton and it costs about £300 000 and it really isn't that big at all (by American standards).

wraith, i understand all that, but do you think I'd live in London and not get paid in pounds? i'm aware of the exchange rate, but I'm also aware of the life experience living abroad can bring. i've traveled Europe, the Pacific, the Caribbean and the Middle East before. I'm headed to London in 3 weeks to visit a friend that's relocating there for work.

i just think that people that cry about how expensive places to live are pussy's. any place worth living is expensive. South Beach is expensive, SoHo is expensive. why? because these are ideal places to work and live.

you're not going to get a work visa so don't worry about it... i have looked in to this, as well for what it's worth.. it just wasn't feasible (and I'm not talking about from a $$$ standpoint)

That's beside the point. If you have 50,000 USD in your bank account, as soon as you move to London, you only have the purchasing power of 25,000 USD. Who cares if you are getting paid in pounds, you are taking a huge hit as soon as you move there.

I like where your heads at...lower the bar and stick with Brazil.

applying for citizenship is tough, expensive

must be very educated and have a lot of experience
