Ok, here's the deal, I use my blackberry to sync up to outlook for calendar organization, contacts...etc. My question is, if someone wants to schedule a block of time, can they see my calendar?

Note: I am not on any particular server, this is on my home computer. We have work computers, but my clients are not connected to those servers either.

no one's going to be able to see your calendar in outlook unless they're on the same exchange server you are


i suppose you could cobble together some google office outlook bubblegum spit and duct tape hoo-ha


but it wouldnt be worth the time and effort

Outlook 2007 allows you to share your calendar over a Microsoft web service. The person viewing it would also need Outlook 2007 AFAIK.

Another question,

Can I make my NCSU account the main account (it's the only one I have). It's currently set as an IMAP, I don't know if it can be set as POP or POP3 or whatever?

what are you trying to accomplish?

yes you can set it up as a pop account if you really want to.. but nothing you do will be synchronized with the server that way

you'll just have to add the account again, find the server settings for pop instead of imap and that's it

I'm trying to setup outlook so I can use just one program for email...etc. I guess by setting it as an IMAP, outlook won't put the emails in the local inbox, so the junk filter isn't used.w

ncsu doesn't have a pop3 server. you can only use imap.

that is how imap works - it uses folders that you "subscribe" to. ncsu has spamassassin set up on the MTA - all you have to do is either add a rule to your sieve filter on webmail or add a rule to outlook to stick messages with the spam flag in the junk mail box.

it's all there in the online help:

1. In Calendar, in the Navigation Pane, right-click the calendar that you have shared on Office Online and want to invite other people to view or subscribe to.

2. On the shortcut menu, point to Publish to Internet, and then click Share Published Calendar.

3. In the sharing invitation e-mail message, enter the names of the people to whom you want to grant permissions.

4. In the message body, you can include any content that you want.

A link to your published calendar is automatically included when you send the message.

5. When you are ready to send the sharing message, click Send.

Is it the memory usage or the taskbar space that's bothering you? If it's the latter, then you can just right click on the existing system try icon and choose Hide When Minimized.

i already do the hide when minimized and the memory is only like 15MB and I got 6 gigs. realistically it shouldn't bother me. but i'm so used to gmail notifier i just can't believe there's not an equivalent for exchange

The OP touched on something that has bothered me for years. When you setup your imap account and you have a new mail then licking on said envelope icon opens outlook to your default (most likely unused POP3-esque) local inbox. Is there any hidden tweak/trick/workaround to fix this so that outlook opens to your subscribed inbox folder?
