My sister called me, asking if she should be worried about a clear fluid oozing from her face. (She's 15, and not hot, folks. Jizz jokes are fine, but about as funny as if it were me in the post)

I totally forgot she was sunburnt until she mentioned it. I went to go check out what was oozing, and my sister looks like she's got the start of smallpox.

Oh, and my parent's crappy insurance treats urgent care visits as ER trips, so it would have been $90 to take her to be seen

I wish I could do more for her than some aloe+lidocaine and aspirin

honestly, the risk of infection is really really high in that situation. i'd figure out a way to take her to the doctor and get her some of the steroid/antibiotic cream.

i've had a sunburn that bad, and its ten times better to go to the doctor... imho

^^, ^ That's what I've read, now that I've gotten into work.

I think that my mom's gonna make an appt with a nurse practitioner, and I'll take her to said appt.

Willing to bet she looks like that English kid who went to the tanning bed for the first time in his life 6 times in one day. Dude looked like he had white crusty boogers all over his face from the sores.

sunscreen/sunblock is a LOT cheaper than a trip to the ER.

with fishing and the work i used to do, i spend a lot of time in the sun. i use this shit religiously. don't have to rub it in, dries fast, not greasy, doesn't run with sweat, one or two applications go all day.

^^ The only time I got sun poisoning was when using that shit. Now I stick to this:

^ that stuff RULES!

I normally burn really easily, but after 9 straight hours in beating down sun & 2 sunscreen applications--- for the first time I wasn't burnt at all. I now <3 Neutrogena.

I don't understand why people don't use sunblock. You still get a tan, you just don't burn. I mean, I know sometimes you can miss a spot or forget to reapply, but the people who refuse to use it are the ones I don't get

No shit, sherlock.

^Likewise. Apparently, she told mom when she got home from the pool that she only applied sunscreen once for 4 or 5 hours She told me she put it on "about every 2 hours"

All my sympathy is gone. She knows better than that.
