you shouldn't buy this phone - the newer version of this phone (htc 6800) came out last summer

it's beyond the end of the lifecycle of this phone unless you are getting it for free - you can put wm6.1 on it if you want to kitchen the phone but it's not worth going down that route if you are getting a new phone

i just got it on ebay for $100, which i thought was pretty good considering they retail for $300 or so. so the actual phone isn't that great? i've got an enV right now which i can't say is all that great either

btw that link was for the xv6600, not the 6700. is there a big difference between the two?

ive had this phone since january this year... a little after the 6800 came out. i also got it on ebay for about 140 shipped. the original rom shipped with it did not allow the phone and wifi to work simultaneously but theres an update on the verizon page to allow it. as stingrayrush said, yes you can also edit the registry to allow it, as well as get a "cooked" rom and put windows mobile 6.1 on it which is what i did and i love it.

if you need any help whatsoever with it you can pm me and i can try and help you out as much as possible. also, a lot of online forums help me out when i "hack" my phone and whatnot, them mainly being ppcgeeks.com or pdaphonehome.com

like i said.. if you need help i can walk you through most of whatever you need as far as the basics goes with editing the registry and whatnot.

bah, so i finally got it and everything works great except for some damn reason it can't receive calls. after about an hour on the phone with verizon they determined it was defective, so i've gotta send it back monday to get a new one. i guess until then i'll just play with the wi-fi

can someone show me how to do that? i messed around with it but network setup is not my forte

ok it works, it was on some weird setting where it couldn't receive calls from cell phones, so thankfully i don't have to send it back.

is there some trick to using a miniSD card? i was under the impression it was essentially a hard drive, but i can't figure out how to save downloads to it or read from it

i upgraded to wm6, but now half the time any changes i make won't save, e.g. sound settings. its just an annoyance right now, but i haven't really explored the phone that much. anything i can do to fix this?

I've had mine for 1+ year. Got it on eBay for $150. Love the fucking thing. Its great for my job. Can remote into switches and shit from my phone without having to haul my laptop.

As for having the WiFi on and the cell service, it works just fine. Dunno WTF you are talking about there. The kitchen to run 6.1 makes the phone so much better.

That said, I want the TyTn II, aka AT&T Tilt. But we get no fucking GSM coverage where I live, so it would be worthless as a cellphone to me. That phone would be the ultimate upgrade to me. Fuck the 6800. Two guys at work have it and the only thing that I saw better in it is that you can actually completely power down the unit. A minor annoyance on mine, but not that big of a deal. And its thinner, but its got that shitty little telescoping stylus that I HATE.

I think when the boss upgrades us at the end of the year he is going to buy us all Blackberry's. Probably gonna go with the Thunder would be my guess.
