drug trafficking carries the death penalty. i guess they have minimum weight cut-offs to establish trafficking.

if you are found with drugs for personal use, it depends: if you are a local, you are put into compulsory rehab. if you are a foreigner, you are punished (jailed/whipped) and then deported after the sentence.

no, that's not what i am saying.

a big chunk of the young people smoke, including the locals and foreigners. from the locals themselves, i have heard estimates ranging from 25% to 75% (of the young population).

btw, there is almost no marijuana here. hashish is smoked here, as it is readily available. apparently, people bring it across the border from yemen.

how they move big quantities... i have no clue.

if you guys really want to see how retarded the war on drugs, especially marijuana is, read reefer madness if you haven't already. Great read and it really opens your eyes as far as the political and legal aspect goes. Not to mention how close it was to being decriminalized prior to the Reagan administration taking office.

only the first section is on weed. the other two involve migrant workers and pornography, so it's not just some stoner book. Basically it attacks three areas where america manipulates the public's perception through propaganda and scare tactics and breaks down just how lame it all is. (not that they don't do this with tons of other things as well, obviously)
