mmm i want some blackberries. Growing up we use to have some growing around our yard. I loved eating them when they were all warm from the sun. Good memories 6/13/2008 1:07:45 PM |

so far, i've got about 2 quart bags of raspberries in the freezer (after making raspberry jam) , a quart of blackberries and 2 quarts of blueberries left
i'm thinking of making smoothies out of the blueberries...the blackberries are being very disappointing thus far in terms of their lackluster production 6/24/2008 1:12:16 PM |

I prefer to have them here
Now if their names were substituted in the thread title by XSMP, Golovko, and gunzz
I'd say it would be a much happier place 6/24/2008 2:05:14 PM |

I am so jealous quagmire02! I think that is cool that you have that. I used to get those all the time when I was back home. I would help my grandmother with her garden and we always planted those. YUMMO!!

I have yet to understand why fruit with water on it looks so much more delicious than fruit without water on it. Tis tru though. 6/24/2008 2:37:43 PM |

^^^ yeah, i'm psyched, too...my parents have an orchard with black/rasp/blueberries, among other things, and i always missed this time of year
^^ & ^ exactly...i took them this morning because they still had the rain from last night or dew from this morning (whichever, or both) and they just looked so good with the sunlight coming through the trees 6/24/2008 4:28:56 PM |

let em be if they are flowering and fruiting
watch for diseases and pests but dont try to do too much stuff
dont cut back the green canes of the raspberry/blackberry that arent flowering now or else ul be waitin for 2 years for new fruit

do i need to water them regularly or anything? if they do get bugs, as we have a lot where we are, what do i treat them with?
for the most part, if it grows in the ground, i kill it (unintentionally- i just don't have a green thumb). i think these are kind of cool and would like to have a better success rate. 7/3/2008 2:03:11 PM |
