About a month ago I took my bike to Barnett's. I would start and idle fine, but when given gas it sputtered, backfired, and would shut off. So the dude changed a spark plug, and told me the rr cylinder was not running. This was early may.

Now it is doing the same shit again. I changed the plugs myself, and added fuel system cleaner. It didn't help anything. I still have the same problem. It backfires a lot. So now I am thinking the previous owner never jetted the carbs when he put the Cobras on it. Would draining the carb help at all or not really?

So do you all have any insight on the issue/know how to fix it? And do you think if I take my invoice and bike back into Barnett's that they will cut me some slack for not fixing it right in the first place.

He wants to see what the electrodes look like. They can be a good indicator of what's going on in the engine.

^ that and its also a good check to start the bike, and lay your hand on each of the pipes, the cylinder thats not running will stay cool

open up the carb bowl drain on that cylinder to make sure there is no water in there, and that it is getting fuel

if all that fails to come up with anything, check to make sure its firing, but the ignition systems on those are solid, i've never seen a problem with them

they do tend to foul plugs if they are only ridden on short trips, and it takes some skill to jet them correctly, the front cylinder runs cooler and may need a different plug/jet than the rear with aftermarket pipes
