i had a killer deck that was built around sapping the player's life point with a bizarre combination of the usually-useless Atog and Ornithopter

I used to work at a track out program with middle schoolers who loved magic. I spent a couple bucks building a deck to beat them with as my old cards were so scattered and useless... I used to rip the hell out of them using that combo. Throw in a bunch of red instants and damaging sorceries... it used to get ridiculous. There was some card that doubled damage each time it was calculated, so 1 damage to me would be 2 to the stuffy doll, then 4 to the opponent. Throw in some red instant that does X damage + the urzas lands... ownage. 6/16/2008 8:57:35 PM |

^^^I'm talking about any constructed format. hell, even block constructed games can end on turn 5 or 6.

damn, this thread got nerdy.
i have a shitload of old cards, but stopped collecting in middle school, so i got out right as all that new shit was coming in, ice ages and whatever else i think was coming out at that time.
i never really learned how to play. had 1 friend who i ever played with, whenever i would try to play with someone else, they said the rules i played by were all fucked up.
i have an old force of nature though. too bad it got passed down thru so many people that it's a bit rough around the edges and probably not legal for most play.
saw some other cards that i have rotting away in a shoebox too. i need to figure out the value on some of my old cards, if there still is any. 6/16/2008 10:45:50 PM |

^^i'm not gonna lie, I don't see what the big deal about that combo is...yeah, the body double can bring back the reveil, mirror entity can pump everyone up...but don't really see what the big deal is.
Quote : | "Let’s assume that the board looks like this: Mirror Entity and six lands in play, Body Double and Riftwing Cloudskate in the graveyard. You cast Reveillark. Once it comes into play, you activate Mirror Entity with X=0, and retain priority, then stack a bunch of additional Mirror Entity activations for zero. You want to stack at one more Mirror Entity activations than your opponent has permanents. Then you release priority. The first Mirror Entity activation resolves, and kills all your creatures. This triggers Reveillark. You target Body Double and Riftwing Cloudskate. When they come into play, Body Double copies Reveillark and the Cloudskate bounces an enemy permanent. Then the next Mirror Entity activation occurs and you do it all again. When your opponent has no more permanents on the table, you let the final activation happen, and bring back Body Double (copying Reveillark) and Mirror Entity. Then pass the turn." |
