actually I do want it for as close to free as I can get, but not to junkyard. i plan on pumping about $9,000 into to make it an electric commuting car worth driving.

basically all I need is the shell of the car (body, windows, wheels) and the transmission. if you think you have something, make sure it is a manual and has a working manual transmission. I don't need anything else to work. no engine, no AC, no radiator, preferably no power steering or power brakes (but that doesn't have to be the case).

from my calculations, $9,000 / $4 a gallon = 2250 gallons of gas


if you got 25 mpg, that's 56,250 miles off those $9k

i guess in the long, long run you'd save money. i wonder how that works out adding in A) the expense of the electricity and B) the earning potential that money has over the time period the 56k miles would be traveled


im very curious as to how long/ how many miles you need to travel until you see savings in the long run
