Jeez, where do I start?
Most of them join the force for the swelled sense of importance and authority that comes from carrying a sidearm and acting condescending and intimidating to the people they come into contact with. Then they become even bigger assholes when they figure out that most of the public dislikes them. Some of them try to enforce laws that don't exist, and most of them do not have a thorough knowledge of the laws that do exist, acting on assumptions of what they think is probably the law. Most of them have an "us versus them" attitude, assume everyone is guilty of something, and have nothing but contempt for citizens' Constitutional rights. If we legalized all recreational drugs, a lot of the problems we have with cops would go away. 6/18/2008 2:49:12 PM |

if you don't break the law then in general you have no reason to hate them.

I should have just said legalize all drugs... marijuana, cocaine, heroin, speed, meth, ecstasy, anything else people use to get fucked up. I envision a world where crack can be bought at a 7-11, but it would have a warning label like cigarettes already do, and would be restricted to adults over 18. 6/18/2008 2:55:23 PM |

^^^ that is semi true because if you've never been through the court system for anything no matter how minuscule you have no idea how much they b.s. police reports how abusive they can be for no reason and as i've mentioned before i have three acquaintances from h.s. that were well on their way to the wrong side of the law before they went blue... One of which molested my ex girlfriend @ knife point.
I don't hate all police most of the older fellas are nice guys actually trying to make things better but many of the younger ones are like a pittbull with a red rocket just looking for something to fuck.

I don't like cops because they are such fucking idiots and incompetent.
Also, my sister once went through a particularly nasty breakup with her current boy friend, and one of his friends put a deer head in a card board box and wrapped it like a present and put it at the end of our driveway.
We call the cops and eventually it turns out that the guy who did it was the son of the chief of police...or at least that was one of the friends. Nothing came out of that case 6/18/2008 3:00:24 PM |

If you are wronged by a cop, (meaning you get caught doing something wrong and the cop is just a total dickhead to you) then sure, you can hate THAT cop. But that isn't an excuse to hate the entire police force. When it is all said and done, you still broke the law.

Some dick HWP near Albamarle gave me a 2nd ticket after the 69 in a 55 speeding ticket; because i told him that my current mailing address is different then the one on my license. I tried to explain to him that the one on my license was my permanent address but since I am in college in Raleigh; i needed all my ticket correspondence (lawyer letters, court stuff) sent to my college address. Being some red neck power tripped cop he did not seem to understand this......
saying some crap about how i needed to get my license changed to my 'new' address. I guess i am supposed to pay the state of NC $15 every fucking year i am in college as I change of apartments/dorms/frat houses.6/19/2008 2:21:57 PM |

Shows that ultimately the criminal justice system worked, but only because the courts corrected an enforcement mistake. Unfortunately, I feel this is too often the case, and sometimes individuals are prosecuted to the full extent simply. the "magistrate" in question was the guy you go see in jail to have your bond set and stuff. regardless of the fact that "the justice system fixed everything," that guy was forcibly removed from his vehicle, taken to jail, had to go through the humiliating shit to get to a cell and sit there for a while. then i'm sure when he was released they just put him outside the jail/courthouse and he had to find his own damn way back to his car or home.
that kind of thing is psychologically damaging! thats why people hate cops. I never truly knew the feeling of hate until I was arrested for a traffic ticket by some moron on a power trip. 6/19/2008 2:35:45 PM |

Even if you are cleared of the charges future employers can find out you were once charged... Basically if you did nothing and proved you did nothing you still get screwed. Thank you, judicial system for your support.6/19/2008 2:43:20 PM |

^^^ agreed. In this case and many others are put through a psychological and judicial gauntlet even when they are completely innocent. Racial profiling is a side factor of this, but regardless it shows the weaknesses within the law enforcement infrastructure.

basically it boils down to the fact that when people are given a reason to feel they have a large measure of authority over others, statistically, they generally become abusive homosexuals. Combine that with theory that bullies and those trying to find self-worth by any means tend to flock to the career-path. Now remove nearly all outside accountability and trust the group to police themselves. 6/19/2008 2:44:36 PM |
