I do contract work with a company but i need someone with networking knowledge, not much, for a job

you'll need tools to check an ethernet line that goes from an apartment to a patch panel, if it doesnt work will need to reterminate both ends.

$60/hr

maybe he doesnt know the 568A-B color's HAHAHAHAHA

http://www.patraswireless.net/tutorial/basic%20tutorial/tut-equipemt/cable_utp.htm

what you need a tester for, just plug in a laptop and either you have connectivity or not, only 2 pair are required for ethernet anyways... i use cat 5 all over and use the other 2 pair for 2 voice lines (the ole tip and ring), lol

dude you can't fuck it up

spend 5 mins googling

the colors are almost always marked anyways on the back of the patch panel. just go buy a cheapo tool to push the wires in there and you're done..and only out $4.99

its not like you're playing with 120V electrical wires or something, at worst it just won't work.. and then it would make sense to get on here and ask for help

jesus christ people, I haven't seen this level of douchebaggery in tech talk in a long time.

The guy wants to PAY someone to do this, how fucking hard is that to understand? This is a great opportunity for someone. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I were still in the area.

^ what he said.

when does this need to be done by? I might be interested.

one end is on a patch panel, what's the other end connected to? an outlet jack?

terminating those are far easier than terminating it with an RJ45 plug.

$60/bucks is nothing. but then again it's an uninsured person. you might as well get an audio repairman to do it. they're masters at running cables.

I wish I was in Raleigh...I'd do this in a heartbeat.

All you fools bitching about searching Google should do this shit since it's so easy...$60 hr. for such an easy job is great!

Plus - I've done work for this guy before and he follows through with his pay!

wish I had time.. it's an hour drive each way :-/

I have a doc visit tomorrow afternoon in Durham, if it isn't done by then I could come out and take care of it (as long as it's something I can do after business hours)
