i mean this shit blew a hole in homegirls back window on her little BMW. i was like OUCH. i'd be hiding my shit too if i could. although i do know where the nearest car wash is. i should just drive up there and see who's already in there. could probably catch some neat cars
and its not even the money, im sure comp covers it, its just not having car for a week while they reglass it 6/22/2008 6:57:31 PM |

thin sheets of aluminum from a sign shop 0.63 mm thick cut and curved to your front+back glass should work well and cost ~50 total to have made.
[Edited on June 22, 2008 at 7:04 PM. Reason : but add blocks of foam to the underside to give the shields some space in the event of BIG hail] 6/22/2008 6:59:59 PM |

good idea, but im more stuck on WHY does it happen here ALL THE TIME.
im in an old ass neighborhood, probably first townhomes built in gso... huge trees, open parking, disaster for cars 6/22/2008 7:01:09 PM |

i saw hail once in tucson in one of those evil monsoon storms they get, but aside from that i havent seen it in... years (that i remember)
so weeks on end, yeah its weird.
im about to go say fuck it go get some fix a flat, i can see the screw and the tire's still somewhat full. i'd rather have to change it in the morning and have an excuse to be late than i would fix this in the dark and drop it. shit

where is the hole, tread or wall of the tire? if it's the tread you can fix it with a rasp and plug kit for <$5. 6/22/2008 7:08:10 PM |

its dead center of the tread, perfect to plug (especially since firestone can suck the 600 bucks worth of tires i bought from them).
plan is, switch on the spare, drop off the tire at a garage down the street tomorrow that i like, and have them plug it for 10 bucks. if they can do it while i wait, cool, if not, i'll pick it up at lunchtime.
think fix-a-flat (if it holds) would fuck up the chances of patching if i just used that until tomorrow lunch (i just dont wanna stretch that hole that the screw is in) 6/22/2008 7:11:11 PM |
