Somewhere within a ~6-7hr drive, or less than $180 round-trip airfare. I'm considering taking this weekend to try flying standby...anywhere.
I just want to go see something new, and it looks like though I have arranged the time off and saved some money for gas, my plans for this weekend might not be happening.
If I drive, I plan to camp. If I fly...cheap hotels, or sleeping outside in a sleeping bag needs to be an option. I don't think DC is an option, don't want to go to the beach right now, and charleston is already planned for. 6/24/2008 10:24:28 PM |

Greetings
I am Brad, I will be moving to NC from California to work at GSK and continue my education at NCSU. I need to find an apartment near the company in RTP area from August to December. I searched online for apartments near the company and most of the apartments have bad ratings on apartment rating website. Can some of you guys from Raleigh area suggest any decent priced apartment which are not known for screwing over people. I have my own furniture so unfurnished apt is perfectly fine if it makes it any cheaper. Apt needs to be away from any ghetto area. I need it approximately 1 to 7 miles away from the company. Address for the company is:
3030 Cornwallis Rd. RTP Nc 27709

richmond, williamsburg, dc, bryson city/cherokee, atlanta, asheville, boone/blowing rock, knoxville, savannah, athens, and a lot more (no order to the list). Out west is especially good for camping, tubing, etc...
I have caught round trip flights for around 150 to New Orleans before (always a fun trip)

i want to take a long weekend trip in the fall (like october 18th-ish) but not sure where. last year we did asheville and i honestly wouldn't be opposed to doing that again just cause we went rafting and didn't do like the whole biltmore blah blah blah, shopping, art galleries etc stuff. but i kinda wanna go somewhere new (i mean i've been all these places as well but i mean, somewhere different from last year).
washington dc (gas would suck but i've already found some okay hotels since i don't really care if its like a best western and because its like kinda far in advance) nashville bushgardens/colonial williamsburg maybe charleston (sc)
other suggestions???? 7/14/2008 6:37:50 PM |

fuck you
you should totally go to Asheville
or hiking in Linville Gorge
or to Washington, DC... and once you get to DC its only $35 roundtrip to get to NYC on the Fung Wah bus 7/14/2008 7:39:53 PM |

i know but i've been to asheville a thousand times and we went for a trip there LAST fall. we just didn't do the biltmore and shopping stuff TOGETHER. but i've done it separate. i mean i love asheville but i would like to go some place else. i mean that can be the backup. 7/14/2008 7:41:50 PM |

dude I lived there and I did the Biltmore "thing" once and I never did the shopping "stuff"
there's lots more to be experienced - like local music and heavy drinking! or the Blue Ridge Parkway!
but fine... take your ass to the big mall in Atlanta 7/14/2008 7:48:07 PM |
khcadwal All American 35165 Posts user info edit post |
haha already been to that mall. don't have any plans on going to atlanta anyway. i was under-whelmed by the coca cola museum.
i've already done the bar scene (including local music) in a-ville and the parkway (in other parts of NC too). last year i went to a spontaneous electro dance party in some downtown square thing. then we saw a jam band (typical??? haha) at a bar but it was still fun. and hit up a couple of yummy restaurants. i just didn't get to do the grove arcade or go to a lot of the galleries. give me a little credit here. i kinda wanna do dc because its been a few years since i've been but that could be a lot to cram into a weekend.
also last year in aville stayed in a hotel so this time IF i went back there i'd want to stay in a B&B.

okay I'm going to give you a really nice suggestion
Saint Simon's Island, Georgia
there, I said it
stay at the King and Prince if you can afford to 7/14/2008 7:55:49 PM |
Snewf All American 63367 Posts user info edit post |
King and Prince Resort http://www.kingandprince.com/
there are lots of cheaper places to stay but it if its a difference of $50-80 a night I'd still spring for the King and Prince because of their beach front property, gorgeous facilities and exceptional pools
take a kayak tour of the salt marsh with Ocean Motion http://www.oceanmotion.biz/
go look at Christ Church in Frederica http://www.christchurchfrederica.org/
its a beautiful place 7/14/2008 8:02:39 PM |
