Forgive me if this has been covered, but I just saw on the news that UNC is in contention to be labeled ESPN's "Title Town" in their list of finalist towns to be visited by ...Sportscenter. Clearly we can prevent this from happening, so let's please do.

Ok thanks.

I guess not, since it's not just college, and Boston and such is in contention. But it would be a damned shame if something like this were to happen...

i dont know if both pro and college cities are applicable, but objectively you'd have to give it to Boston right now

Look, I dunno too many details aside from the shit they were spewing on the news. I just know I'm not the only one that doesn't want to see Chapel Hill of all places in contention for something like this.

EVERYBODY IN THE WOOOOORLD or however it goes...

another crappy ESPN summer segment.

It will either be New York or Boston. Chapel Hill is selected because of Wink Scott and all the other "journalists" at ESPN who went to Hell.

would you rather them replay outside the lines clips over and over and then show the same highlights 3 times in a show?

personally i'd rather listen to this, at least its something different.

they have to do SOMETHING once everything is done except MLB

I guess they haven't started voting yet.

And yeah, I guess it's a joke to think Chapel Hill could even come close to getting this from the choices they have up...

When I first made the thread I was confused about who they were selecting. How the hell is Chapel Hill even in contention? Nobody gives a shit about any of their other "titles" aside from basketball; not even their "fans." And the last I checked they don't have one for baseball lol.

Chapel Hill is no worse than:

Knoxville, Tenn.
Valdosta, Ga.
Williamsport, Pa.
Gainesville, Fla.
Parkersburg, W.V.
Lawrence, Kan.

which are all on the list.

Has anyone read the essays about why Chapel Hill should be TitleTown? My favorite line is, "UNC has its own color, Carolina Blue, and everyone in Chapel Hill bleeds that beautiful color. The street signs are Carolina Blue. The fire trucks are Carolina Blue. The helicopters are Carolina Blue." I didnt even know there were helicopters in Chapel Hill.

I disagree. The high school there has won something like 24 state titles and 5 national titles in football and have won more games than any team in the country. The college has also won the national title a few times including one last year. They won't get the votes because no one knows where it is though.

We should at least all get together and figure out where the "journalists" are "from" when they do things we don't like.

The signs that are Carolina Blue are the ones that are on campus or directly adjacent to Campus. That's not that extraordinary for a University.

Guess my CH-Durham-Raleigh essay didn't grab ESPN by the cajones like I hoped it would

Oh GODDAMNIT. They took apart my essay and used the part for CH....crap....

I think a poll skew would be called for if places like Chicago, NYC, and Boston/NE were not on the list.

Here's a poll skew:

ESPN's Ultimate Cinderella Story

Our 1983 team is on there. http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/rank?versionId=1&listId=150

Valdosta could lose every game for the next 51 years and still have a winning record.
