Just got back from a nice jaunt in the mountains. Decided since it was a nice day out and
really hadnt had a chance to test out the handling on the new car that now would be a good
time. Went up Highway 181 from Morganton towards Boone. If you arent familar with it this
is a favorite road in the area for sport bikes. Lots of long sweepers that you can hold
alot of speed in.

Basically all I can say is wow, car handled and performed even better than I thought it
would.

On the first run uphill (about 6 mile run) I turned the traction control off and used
manual mode. Did well, never really needed more power. And its one of those cars where
you dont realize how fast your going until you look down at the speedo. Managed to
hold between 50 and 80 no problem. Suspension was very smooth, never stepped out on me
even when I tried to get it to. Just a bit of tire squeel. Steering gave alot of feed
back.

On the second run I was very impressed. I was a little nervous with the auto going back
down. I figured I would be riding the hell out of the brakes since its such a steep
downgrade. Decided I would try it in Sport mode with the traction control on. The
transmission just blew me away. I had figured that sport mode was basically just higher
shift points and quicker shifts, boy I was wrong. Its almost as if it adapts to how your
driving. If your driving slowly it acts like its just in drive. (shifting at lowers rpms
and taking its time) If your getting on it and consistently downshifting it will constantly
downshift and upshift to keep you in that same power range. Transmission kept the car right
between 2500 and 4000 when I let off whole way down. That way I got it engine breaking
coming into the corner and hitting that sweet spot in the power band coming out. Now
granted it doesnt do all this quite as smoothly as maybe a bimmer would but still.

Going to be a big smile on my face for the rest of the day.
