Maybe some of you guys can confirm or deny my theory....

A guy either has a best guy friend and then guy and girl acquaintances, or a guy has alot of semi-good female friends.

So guys, what kind of friends do you have?

My best friend in high school was a girl, and I had a pretty even mix of guy/girl friends beyond that.

My best friend in college and up to now is a guy, and I have a pretty even mix of guy/girl friends beyond that, except a lot of them are now married.

I tend to think of it as circles of trust

Males:
1-2 Best Friends (Can talk about anything, respect their advice, share secrets)
3-5 Good Friends (Won't share secrets with but everything else is okay)
8-15 Acquaintances (Only shoot the shit with these guys)

Females:
1 Best Friend (Girlfriend-anything goes)
1-4 Good Friends (Talk about relationships, give advice, hang out with on a reg. basis)
10 Acquaintances (See every now and then, fun at clubs/parties, known for more than a year)

anyone older than 14 who calls people their "best friend" is a wierdo

You don't put your friends in tiers

I just classify em by whether I trust them or not

I trust 6 people

I put my friends in tiers because it makes sense to me. It's not those are concrete numbers either.

Also, I don't have a list on the computer or in my back pocket with who is in what tier. That sounds like some middle school shit.

this sounds like a girl's theory, which would be why it is so unintelligible.

I have a couple (3-4) really close friends and then a lot of acquaintances. I don't really do the huge circle of friends thing.

guys generally are not friends with females unless they want to sleep with them or at least wanted to sleep with them at some point.

let's see

3 best friends who know what's up.

maybe 5-10 "friends" i'll hang around if i'm bored.

and about 150+ what I call "facebook friends"...

these are just people whose names i met and remembered. some of them were in the first two categories but got sent back to the minors for some reason or another.
