Quote :
"SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge in New York has ordered Google to turn over to Viacom a database linking users of YouTube, the Web’s largest video site by far, with every clip they have watched there.

United States District Court Judge Louis L. Stanton, who is presiding over Viacom’s lawsuit against Google and YouTube, said that Google could “cite no authority barring them from disclosing such information in civil discovery proceedings, and their privacy concerns are speculative.” He said the information could help Viacom make its case."

Well the judge's ruling is just a hop skip and a jump away from the gov't knowing everyone's viewing habits - in clear violation of the federal video privacy protection act.

But after all, who needs their privacy if they're not doing anything wrong, right?

Sorry.

No one was talking about this at the bar.

It must not be very important.

How does a company like Viacom even see this as helping them? Our corporate leaders are fucking dipshits.

Can we vote Google as president?

supposedly they have been ordered to hand over 12TB of log files.
They should print them out and FedEx them over 100 pages at a time.

NO! They should hand write them. Or use the captcha software to render the text unreadable by a computer.

Sorry, that's just one word I can't stand to see misused.

Wait, isn't that an old spelling or something? I specifically had this problem times before, and left with the conclusion that 'weather' should be used.

let's see: the most obvious is a list of ip addresses to target in future litigation. another is a vast database of consumer data (that they would pay dearly for in the free market).

my bet is that this judge hasn't ever used the internet beyond dictating an email or memo to his secretary.

This will get appealed and hopefully shot down at The Supreme Court.

Fortunately, they'll just delete all the information they gathered at that point.

No harm, no foul.

Oh wait...
