XP is awesome and doesn't require a massive box to run it

i use to think xp was better than vista, but vista is WAY better. however, if you are a casual user vista might annoy, since it switched up file names, and other little quirks. but overall blows xp out of the water.

meh - i have a p4 2.8 hyperthreaded w/ 1gb of pc3200 and a 256mb ati agp card so im in no hurry to install that system hog...explorer.exe uses 13mb on my XP machine, and on a freshly booted Vista Ultimate box it uses 75mb, which is a stiff increase...the graphics card needs to be a bit beefier as well to handle the constant load of all that graphic goodness in the new glassy GUI (which i don't even like).

yeah, my box is old as moses, but i will say that my box is still a strong machine as far as editing sound/video so really....vista doesnt offer me anything but less available system resources available than in XP.

you know damn well that as soon as you get away from what win95 offered in an OS you lose the following. i'm not rationalizing/fooling myself either - the #'s don't lie, and for any that read this, don't game primarily on your box if you can't afford major upgrades every 18 months or less....just buy a wii/ps3/360 instead, and have money for beer left over.
