no way fukudome should be on the team, there are at least 5 better NL outfielders numbers wise:

carlos lee
matt holliday
nate mcclouth
jason bay
rick ankiel

i'll probably get flamed for this, but MLB needs to cut its season by at least 20 games, shits too damn long

Yeah its pretty horrible. I like the idea of fan voting but it needs to be for the backups, not the starters. Shits backwards. Kinsler definitely should have been in, Jeter shouldn't be there, personally I think Morneau should be in over Youk, Milton is missing... too many holes in it. Personally I think the NL is gonna destroy the AL as they seem to have more guys chosen on skill not on being a yankee/red sox player, with the exception of Soto and Kosuke (I think it should've been McCann/Holliday).

I originally thought Jeter shouldn't be there but the American League is just pitifully dreadful at the shortstop position. Young and Jeter are the only two guys who would be in the Top 8 in the NL, OPS wise...

What a joke.....Ian Kinsler is possibly the best offensive player in the game right now and isn't starting?

Pedroia is not even near Kinsler. Least they voted Hamilton in.

Ortiz/Griffey/Soriano getting the votes they did is pathetic as well.

Soto deserved it although McCann and Martin are right up there...Lee deserves it more than Soriano but no arguments about starting Berkman...Fukudome is an example of Cubs fan poll skewing

Jap internet voting

I liked Gonzalez over Berkman for 1B....though the numbers don't necessarily back it up

i think varitek as a reserve is the worst choice, he's not an all-star by any stretch of the imagination this season

I think Berkman started off a lot better than Adrian but Gonzalez has been more consistent...also Berkman has a bunch of stolen bases

Jose Reyes should have made it over both Guzman AND Tejada.

Reyes: .297/.360/.485 for a .845 OPS
Guzman: .313/.340/.429 for a .769 OPS
Tejada: .282/.319/.437 for a .756 OPS

I get that the Gnats need a rep, but Tejada making it is just mindblowingly retarded. Not only is the guy an admitted steroid user and liar, but he isn't even CLOSE to as productive as Reyes is...

Wright should have made it over Ramirez... and Hamels needs to be on the team too.

Offensively Tek isn't a good choice but he calls one of the best games in the majors.

there's some speed on the NL roster

everybody should run on Veritek when he's in. hell, steal 2 at a time while you're at it. his arm is about as good as the girls under-10 special olympics softball team's designated runner

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

If that is the case, then Yadi Molina is the best catcher in the game with his arm and calling....

The All-Star game sucks. Get rid of the representative from every team rule and get rid of home field advantage in the World Series.

I don't really have problem with fan voting. It's supposed to be an exhibition game that doesn't count for anything. Who cares if it's skewed?

but since the home field rule is still in place, i'm sure you'll be pulling hard for the NL

seriously I don't want to see the Yanksox versus the NL.

6 out of the starting 9 are on the same two teams. That is outright bullshit even WITH the "one from every team" rule.

Just make another rule that you can't have more than two players from one team in the starting lineup They're only in for about two innings anyway.

i dont really have anyone i would want taken off, but it is interesting that the good sox have the best ERA in the AL and the 2nd best for starters, but they have no pitchers on the team

at least Danks should be there

^he's pretty much got the best stats of any AL outfielder who didnt already make the team...for the 2 reserves I voted for Longoria and Hart myself

Quote :
"3B Carlos Guillen will be taking his four gloves with him to the All-Star Game -- even though they're not his. Guillen is one of those players who forever is using someone else's equipment, in part because he hates breaking in new gloves of his own. So the three-time Detroit All-Star will be taking teammate Miguel Cabrera's third-base glove to Yankee Stadium, Miguel Tejada's shortstop glove, Sean Casey's first-base mitt and Gary Sheffield's outfield glove. On Sunday, Guillen said he was thinking of possibly getting bats from Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez to use. "Everybody," Guillen said. "They're all good hitters."

So who is everyone's pick for the Derby???

I think it will be a lefty at Yankee Stadium and I'll go with a youngster and go with Sizemore.

after 5 straight years of non-white players winning the derby, it's odd to see an all white-bread lineup...

ohhh, I hope my man-crush Grady Sizemore wins

but I'll be very happy if Hamilton or Longoria wins

I actually really like this years lineup. I kinda wish Pujols was in it - especially after he said that he wanted to participate.

Actually 7.5 white players

Sizemore is a Halfrican American

Here are the odds as of this morning

9 - 2 Chase Utley

5 - 1 Dan Uggla

8 - 1 Evan Longaria

5 - 1 Grady Sizemore

3 - 1 Josh Hamilton

9 - 2 Justin Morneau

4 - 1 Lance Berkman

8 - 1 Ryan Braun

As for my pick...I'm going with a semi-longshot

Justin Morneau

Quote :

and baseball is stupid is hell...this is like if Kobe said he wanted to be in the dunk contest and the David Stern was like "Nah, were going with Keyon Dooling instead"

at the Yankee Stadium lovefest...

My lasting memory of that dump? The urine soaked outfield bleachers and the overflowing urinals where people just said fuck it and pissed all over the floor...

Just a disgusting stadium in a fucked up run-down neighborhood...
