Quote : | "Williams, ranked eighth in the world last year, jumped 7 feet, 6 1/2 inches at Olympic track and field trials Saturday for the victory.
"I really couldn't sleep very well last night and woke up at 4 a.m. dreaming about winning the trials at that height," Williams said. "I really don't know how that happened, but it did. I couldn't get back to sleep because all I was thinking about was being clean through 2.30."" |

meh. He was obviously in it to qualify and not to set a PR (IMO), and his strategy was great. He stayed largely in the middle of the pack and picked up a great draft from the leaders, then when the leaders pulled away with two laps he went with them, and then bolted for the last 200 meters. Pretty solid. His only mistake would have been if the leaders at the front broke off and separated to form a new pack, but they didn't, so yay.
