its in the Dark Knight thread but it could get lost easy so it deserved its own thread
its basically animated shorts ala Animatrix for the Dark Knight

just started watching it and it's cool, it reminds me of a graphic novel I have called "The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told", the first "episode" seems to be right out of there actually

that is all i got through last night - i started it pretty late. i think i'll finish it tonight, but it was odd having the familiar animated batman voice with the anime style.

Kevin Conroy is the best Batman though. Justice League for instance, and of course the show all of us watched when we were 10, Batman The Animated Series

just in case anyone wonders they cover Killer Croc, Scarecrow still on the lam, and Arcane Island (apparently the asylum is too small so they made an island for it)

i have the feeling it sets up some of the bad guys we will see in the movie like the Russians

The first clip was awful.

after watching that I felt like I was about to be cheated out of an hour or so of my life. But the rest of them were pretty good. I think the second one was the best.

i couldn't make it through the first part... the art was just so terrible (IMHO). made me weep for The Animated Series

was the whole thing done in the same style?

no no, it gets so much better.

They should have stuck that shit in the middle somewhere, or cut it out completely.

Every clip is a different style. They all have some "anime" style to them, but none are like the first one.

I thought it was pretty solid. First one was ehhh but its a good starting story. And yeah different styles each time. Only thing I hated was the magic bullet punch

I would say it's probably something like the Clone Wars series between SW episode 2 and 3. It's not necessary to see to follow the story, but you may recognize some things that are going on if you have seen it.

that segment with the bullet-diverting EMP had the worst Bruce Wayne I've ever seen. He looked like such a pansy, I wasn't sure it was him until it was explicitly mentioned

on the other hand, the segments with Deadshot and Scarecrow/Killer Croc were freaking awesome.

Kevin Conroy's voice in an anime rendition of Christian Bale really doesn't work

Was wayyy too anime-ish for me. I like the western cartoon style much more.

And the third one had the most homo batman ever imo.

I, too, tend to like more "traditional," if you will, animation and graphic novel art--but I also say keep an open mind. I didn't think I was going to like the style of Harvest Breed, but it grew on me and actually worked quite well with the storyline.

a tiny tiny bit off topic...

lego batman the videogame comes out on sept 23rd. if you preorder from gamestop you get a free lego character keychain (batman, robin, joker, or catwoman), but if you preorder from gamecrazy you get twoface, scarecrow, penguin, or mr. freeze. wtf

i normally get all my stuff from gamecrazy b/c our gamestop people are assholes, but i prefer the 1st rate characters. lol. i'd rather have twoface over robin, but i'll take my chances.

just saw it last night...i thought it was pretty good

especially the deadshot one...mostly because of the 1930s cars...the working through pain one was pretty grizzly

i didn't like the way the first segment's animation look when dealing with the kids...i did like the way they did batman though...reminded me of mike mignola's batman

Finally broke down and bought the Special Edition. I tend to agree with everyone else. The first 3 suck but it really picks up with the fourth one with the Scarecrow and Croc. I thought the animation was the best in those two episodes since it didn't look too anime. The one with Deadshot was great. It was my first introduction to him as a villain. I like the concept of using him in some future stuff. Maybe a minor role in a future live action flick????
The DVD feature with Bob Kane was cool. He was really an arrogant guy and seriously thought he was Bruce Wayne. I had no idea he was a Jew

i downloaded this like, a month ago and thought maybe two of them were pretty good. the anime ones just seemed really bad i couldn't watch them. the fact that they made bruce wayne into a 14 year old girl was just dumb

Not necessary to watch, but the different art styles are fun. I don't mind Bale's voice, but Kevin Conroy will always be the voice of Batman to me.

That's why I said what I said. Read Dark Knight thread for more information about Bale's voice.
