my friend owns a farm (not a REAL farm but a lot of acres) and he had a good deal on a horse and a place for it to stay full time with other horses and all the proper care

so basically i had the chance to get a horse and not have to pay boarding fees and all that shit.

right now just take pictures of it, hahaha. i might learn to ride horses. its not like i have a kentucky derby horse, and there will be no training or steroids or anything like that.

paco is basically the "rescue" equivalent of a horse...

i dont want a dog or cat or anything besides a fish, nothing in my house. and nothing that i have to take care of on a regular basis cause i never know when i might have to leave a pet alone for almost a full day

so this is perfect, i think. there's a caretaker out there, so this horse has food, water, shelter, etc. and as for attention, there are about 5-7 other horses out there for socializing. and, finally, people.... the owners of the other horses come out there a lot with their kids, they're all welcome to play with paco if they want. (i dont want anyone trying to ride the horse but they can feed it apples or pet it or lick it... whatever).

and its about 3 miles away, which is really close IMO, and still out in the country enough (for gso ppl, its out past wal mart on 220N) and ive gone a decent amount since paco became mine... so i have something to do now in the afternoons / weekends when im bored, etc. i can't think of any reason why i shouldn't have a pet horse, considering. and i feel like i got a good deal... the only bad thing is that emergency vet type stuff would be expensive as hell, but checkups and all that stuff kinda come with the whole boarding deal.

ive never rode paco, but i've ridden other horses before. like i was saying, i may learn when i find out more and make sure i didnt get a lemon (doctor said everything was fine... but im honestly not positive on the age so im not gonna go jump on the motherfucker)

Easier said, than done. It's not something I had/will ever look foward to doing.

and horses can live to be OLD (I know 2 in their 30's). The owner secretly wants them to die, so he can get 2 more rideable horses hahaha.

part of the reason i did it was so it would have a good home and good care

and its the perfect animal for me. it gets everything it needs and doesnt instinctively want to follow me around all the time, and enjoys its own kind and chilling alone... yet doesnt mind when people come to play

i dont want to say on here i'll pm you or something.

i'm "responsible" for any kind of emergency vet bills that may come up. the "routine doctor visits" arent a big deal financially, because i dont bring paco to them, they come to paco. and since the same doctor deals with all of them, its minimal (and its done automatically, i cant be lazy and forget!)

but i mean if there was a leg injury, i'd have to pay whatever to get it fixed, etc. or get the animal put down. but just like a cat or dog, i would choose fixing the problem over euthanasia unless there was some really serious painful stuff going on.

ha yeah thats one of the reasons i did it too, cause girls like horses. but i was thinking more about the fact that pretty much 9/10 of my living family is female, so i have tons of little cousins and niece type cousiny things, or 2nd cousins, like couins kids, etc. just thought it would be a neat thing to have, and the horse gets to have a full time caretaker at the farm and more frequent checkups than the average horse. its a win win
