first off let me preface by saying that I dont read chit chat that often so it didnt affect me much, however it was not just the content inside the threads. Yes that is one way to avoid it but that was not the only reason it was annoying people. The bigger reasons were probably based around the number of threads taking up space on the chit chat first page, and you can't ignore that like you can the content inside. Possibly bandwidth as well. I dont know though, that would just be my guess
