It would be cheaper to stock your company's fridge w/ your own milk. Why bother w/ the mark up associated w/ having a company do it, or convincing the owner/stock boy to do it.

my doctor told me that i should keep drinking milk (low fat or skim) because it's a good source of calcium, and i don't want to become a hunchback. i know people take vitamins, and i do too, but i thought that one's body absorbed nutritious elements better when it's from food and not a pill.
also, that milk machine thing at UT had delicious, cold milk.

milk is not a good source of dietary calcium. the calcium is in the form of calcium caseinate, a protein. societies with the highest intake of calcium, particularly that of animal sources, a, lso have the highest rate of osteoporosis. google milk and osteoporosis- of the first 20 hits, only one supports the view that milk prevents osteoporosis. granted these sources are not all scholarly, but this is becoming common knowledge in the medical world.
why this appears to be the case is rather complex and involves bone metabolism, digestion of amino acids, vitamin D synthesis and other factors, but milk does not build strong bones. If you ever see a milk ad, they never say "milk builds strong bones." they say "milk is a source of calcium. healthy bones need calcium." these are not equivalent statements.7/14/2008 5:27:59 PM |
