it came like this

after a bit of searching i found this

and the front cover

what do all those stickers mean?

here is the main attraction

the "head cover" was loose on it, im hoping no one was taking parts off of it.. anyone see anything out of ordinary in the next few pics? like missing peices? i plan on getting an outboard book and getting this sucker running soon.

i pretty much picked these things up for free. no title for either boat or trailer for both the vessels. but wildlife said we'll treat them like an abandoned vessel since the tow hard never got a lean on it. but i have yet to contact the tow yard.. anyone remember the name of the tow company that was off of craftsman dr (off of old wake forest rd) they did a lot of towing around NCSU, maybe ACE or something.

anyways.

lets hope this boat makes it

On the Sea Doo...
It looks like you've got the intake manifold and the carb, but I don't see the flame arrestor and it's housing unless it is somewhere else.

The flywheel and stator is behind that cover. I'd say there is a good chance that both are pretty fucked up. The cover looks pretty rusted, so I'd assume the flywheel is the same. Starter and stator may have been unnecessarily weathered too.

The rag stuck down the intake manifold isn't going to do much except for hold moisture there. Probably needs a rebuild on the engine to get it running right. I'd guess the carb needs a rebuild too since it is off. That's probably why it was taken out of service in the first place. Dual Mikuni's are can be expensive if they need to be replaced.

That a professional beer drinker rode her hard all over Lake Gaston and put her up wet.

I could use it for parts if you decide you don't want it. I actually have a 93 (that's a 94) that is identical except for a little more pink in the stickers.

^^good info.

there were some little parts left over. this motor is a bit smaller than the other two sea doos we have, so my idea for parts may not work. ill try to get more pics of whatever is left.

^not sure if the 'rude runs. gonna make sure its in good order before i attempt to start it.

^^ You could always get a replacement engine from SBT (short block technologies.) It'll be around $950 I think and you have to ship the old engine back. You'd probably still want to put on an eBay flywheel, stator, and starter while the engine is out. Get an oil injection blockoff kit too and just bypass the oil pump to be safe with the new engine. It's risky without any way of knowing whether it has computer or pump problems though.

Oh wait, I see the flame arrestor and box in the fifth pic.

man, all i see is a couple of holes in the ground waiting to be filled with money.

seriously though, i wouldn't even waste my time or money on that ski. keep it for parts, sell it for parts, or something. that trailer will bring a little money too. use what you get for the boat.

off hand, the boat doesn't look like it was taken out of service for any glaring problems. pretty nice setup back in its day too. any idea when it was last used? if the registration sticker doesn't give you an idea, look at the date on the battery. that hummingbird depth/fish finder isn't terribly old. the prop and lower unit doesn't appear to have had a beat down from anything. the transom saver support has been in place, that's good. hell, even the kill switch lanyard is still in place. looks like that thing got pulled out of the water after using it one day and just parked for some reason.

i've got an evinrude service manual around somewhere if you want to borrow it. even if there's nothing wrong with it and you get it to fire off and run, keep a close eye on the piss stream of water coming from the top of the housing. the thermostats love to hang in those motors, especially after they've been sitting unused for a while. if there's a problem, you'll have a very weak or non existent output from there.

^^^yeah, just lay your hand up there on the head and see if the sucker's open or not

that's how we'd determine which side's thermostat wasn't opening on our old 115 OMC anyway

cut your losses and buy this. essentially the same boat but w/ an 85. i bet you'll have near that in the free one. plus you don't have the title headache.

yeah the one you have right is going to turn from "free" to "royal pain in the ass with too much money into it" real fast

i'd sell it in pieces and buy something else

yeah, i didnt have much intention of using the ski, but the guy just gave it to me. i could really use the trailer for our other ski (since the two are on a dual trailer, and only one works).

either way. most likely ill get rid of the ski. i figured it was taken apart for a reason. i worked on my other sea doo, easy to work on. i was gonna throw all of these parts back on and do a "quick" start up.

dang, if i would have seen that boat earlier, i would have def. gotten it.

i need something to keep me busy. i def. dont plan on doing much if the motor doesnt run. perhaps just part it out. i know a lot of the costs now, and they play a big factor. if the motors gonna cost me like $800 to rebuild, hell i know i can sell all of this for a little bit of money and buy something for like $1500 that needs a small amount of work, or none. like that boat with a gas line and batt'ry.

but yeah, the motor is def. the deciding factor.

Try turning the impeller shaft with some channel locks first just to see if the motor is locked up. You should be able to pull the spark plugs and stick a long screwdriver in there to feel the pistons moving up and down too. If it's locked up there is no reason to even put it back together.

yah, that was my first thing..

i forgot to mention that i saw a set of used plugs in there when i was digging around (inside the engine compartment), i dont know, maybe he was tuning it up or something.. ill check the plugs that are in it now to see how new they look.

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/boa/757044804.html

craigslist is really wrapped up with deals on boats

no one can afford to haul them around (or drive to fish at all)

i'd clean the carbs and put in fresh fuel before i even tried to start it again. no need to plug them up more when you know the carbs will need cleaning.

ok, well ive gotten the jetski back together, just a matter of finding time to attempt to crank it up.

and the boat starter has been somewhat cleaned up. gonna slap it back on and attempt to fire that one up also.

i havnt really touched them otherwise, except to clean them with a powerwasher. so if the motors run decently enough, them perhaps ill continue with them. if not. CL it is

nah. cleaning the starter didnt help. still the same old slow turn over.
dont feel like getting deep into the motor unless i cant sell it

its actually up for sale... haha

ive got a dodge raider to mess around with and my uncles 2 jetskis.

i made my money back with this purchase when i sold that single jetski. so ima try to get rid of this. if i cant sell it, then ill fix it.
