http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/07/15/mccain-slips-again-on-czech-republic/
Sen. John McCain devoted most of his speech in Albuquerque today to international affairs, from Iraq and Afghanistan to his pledge to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil.
Just don’t ask him to say “Czech Republic.”
The expected Republican nominee again identified the Czech Republic as Czechoslovakia – a day after a similar slip. The repeated error could hurt his argument that he’s the more experienced foreign policy hand – the centerpiece of his campaign against Sen. Barack Obama.
Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in January 1993. His press office knows that, and in a statement Monday evening, it correctly referred to the Czech Republic.
Taking questions at the town hall meeting today, McCain lamented America’s reliance on foreign oil and the political perils that could result. He invoked Russia as an example of a nation cutting oil supply to “Czechoslovakia” in response to political differences between the two countries.
Talking Points Memo noted that a few months ago, McCain told talk radio host Don Imus that he would “work closely with Czechoslovakia and Poland and other countries” to install the European Missile Defense System in Poland. At a Republican primary debate last October, he said, “The first thing I would do is make sure that we have a missile defense system in place in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and I don’t care what his objections are to it.”

So this 71 year old veteran, with all of his so-called foreign experience, not remember that Czechoslovakia split up into two countries in 1993?? This is also coming a few weeks after he didnt know the difference between Sunni and Shiites Muslims-which are basically two of the groups doing a bulk of the fighting, and additionally Bin Ladens men are Sunni Muslims.
So how in the hell can McCain rant/rave about about Obama's foreign inexperience when he cant remember the militaristic group Bin Laden's people are associated with? One thing I will give GW and Bill credit with is that they had descent foreign advisors. Who the hell is on McCain's foreign advising staff when he goes on national programs and newspapers interviews and make such ridiculous statements.
OBAMA is going to take NC in a LANDSLIDE come Nov. 2008, b/c even if Obama does not have lengthy foreign experience-he is intelligent enough to appoint foreign advisors/military counsel to advice him that Czechoslovakia has not been a country for FIFTEEN FUCKING YEARS!! Seriously McCain....SERIOUSLY??? The Repubs should of voted Huckabee or Romney as their party nominee b/c McCain is making a mockery of himself and his party all by his lonesome! 7/15/2008 9:56:26 PM |

I only made B's/C's through out my years of various history classes from 5th grade through 12th grade and I knew that Czechoslovakia was no longer a country. It doesnt take a rocket science man..it just takes reading the newspapers.
My point with this posting is where is all of McCain's foreign knowledge and experience when knowing current events? 7/15/2008 10:14:23 PM |

^BLACK PEOPLE INSTEAD OF AFRICAN AMERICAN?
Czechoslovakia does not exist, black people and african-americans both exist, it's just a preferred usage... this is completely different.
this is closer to him calling Russia the Soviet Union than your analogy. 7/16/2008 12:43:53 AM |

I call it Czechoslovakia all the time, even though I know it's the Czech Republic and Slovakia. I'm reasonably well-versed in the history and geography of the region, but, awkward as it looks, "Czechoslovakia" rolls off the tongue better. My tongue, anyway. 7/16/2008 12:50:39 AM |

Obama Leads McCain by Eight But Doubts Loom, Raising Stakes Obama Holds Advantage, But McCain Favored to Handle Global Politics
Quote : | "Americans by a wide margin, 63-26 percent, pick McCain as more knowledgeable on world affairs, rate him much more highly in terms of readiness for the world stage and military leadership alike, and put him ahead of Obama by 50-41 percent in trust to handle 'an unexpected major crisis.'" |

Confused? It's understandable.
