dnl knows nothing of bbq

cooper's can be wildly inconsistent

but ole time is mildly overpriced

and the pit is not the kind of place i want to eat barbecue, though it's good barbecue

i still maintain the sauce is sweeter than it was when mitchell's was open, but whatever

Dickey's is pretty good in Crossroads, probably my favorite.

then smithfields, then red, hot, and blue.

^^^^ care to name any decent eastern-style bbq places in Raleigh?

oh nm you already named some places. They're not as good as the places I named overall though. If you're willing to drive a bit you can get something good.

if it's memphis style

it sucks

even if it's good memphis style

it's still memphis style

so it sucks

i mean...red hot & blue? seriously? SERIOUSLY?

cooper's has been open for more than 50 years

it's fucking good

so do all the places you mentioned.

And when did Smithfields become Memphis-style?

unless they've raised their prices recently, this is far from the truth- you can fill up there for 5-7 bucks

BBQ is expensive to make.

It is not gonna be like a fucking .99 cheeseburger.

at ole time a sandwich, puppies, and tea runs $9-10 with a decent tip

at cooper's, same meal plus fries (skins instead of puppies, but i never really liked cooper's puppies and the skins are AWESOME) runs $7 with the same tip

like i said...mildly overpriced

I've determined I can't find any good bbg east of Gboro

Cook's in Lexington
Carter Bros in High Point is the best of the "fast food" type bbq joints

any Eastern style barbecue that is made west of Smithfield, besides Smithfields that i've tasted is no where near as good as east of Smithfield unless I made it myself.

Saying that, before someone bursts a blood vessel, go to Smithfields.

the fact that you mentioned dickey's means that nothing you say has anything resembling credibility

and this is not a lexington/goldsboro thread

forgive me for wasting your time FAI756843, I did not grow up in Raleigh but was indeed raised close to where good BBQ is made. Please forgive me.

i wouldn't claim that anything in raleigh, aside from cooper's on a GREAT day, can compare with anything made starting 75 minutes to the east

with that said

dude, seriously, you said dickey's

I mean, even if you don't like Memphis style BBQ, they still have the best selection of sides, about 4 other meats you can get that are freakin delicious, and free ice cream. Same with RH and B, except for the Ice Cream.

In hind sight, i'm going to say that anywhere that calls pulled pork "BBQ" is probably where you want to eat if you like Eastern Style.

I almost picked up a tub of Lancasters at Food Lion, then I red the side. 130% of your daily value of sodium in 1/4 of the tub.

I love BBQ it just = death.
