You can have a fantastic attitude about accomplishing something impossible but it won't help you one fucking iota.

Me, if I had billions of dollars I'd probably set up some kind of trust to help deserving people go to college regardless of their ability to pay (i.e. doesn't matter if their parents are rich, middle class, or destitute), maybe try to fund some serious medical research like the Hughes institute does, and then probably try to insulate myself from the general populace as much as possible. I don't think I'd flaunt my wealth too much, probably rock a nice home, couple of nice vehicles, but otherwise would likely travel and generally just try to enjoy my existence and limited time on earth as much as possible.

well these billionaire superheros could have better spent their money fighting problems systematically on a larger scale

the individual level makes for fantastic stories and I'm sure their vigilante interventions make a difference in some people's lives... but I doubt that the overall crime rates fall significantly due to their activities

so really what these guys are doing is some sort of self-indulgent fantasy attempting to compensate for some loss - Bruce Wayne fights violent crime (particularly armed robbery) to compensate for the loss of his parents

Tony Stark is less believable and, generally, I think a less dynamic character - there's a lot of jingoism involved with this character
