OK, have nice pants and a matching jacket, looks like I'm gonna end up having to find a part time job. What kind of short sleeve or sleeveless shirt would be suitable? Are empire waisted ones like this ok?

http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/juniors/tops/buttondownshirts/PRD~344864/SO+Striped+Poplin+Shirt.jsp#

Should I get one that's obscenely plain, ditch the collar, etc? It's only gonna be a part time job but all I've got right now are polos.

pants suit is always safest bet because it shows that you are conservative, and neutral.

seriously, though, pics help...not every woman can pull off every style of clothing, and some are definitely better suited than others

i would stay away from sleeveless.

what kind of part time job is this? when i interviewed for part time jobs at vets' offices, a doggie day care, and a pet food company, and various other places, i wore dress slacks and 3/4 sleeve button down dress shirts. same pants i'd wear w/ a suit or for a full time interview, and basically the same type of shirt, just shorter sleeves. short sleeves would probably be okay, depending on body type, but 3/4 would be safer.

it all depends on where you're interviewing...

what kind of job?

I wore a button up shirt with 3/4th sleeves, slacks and short heels for an IT job.

I was as dressed up as one of the VPs, and the woman I (now) work with wore white jeans and a brown billabong tshirt

A skirt is more "conservative" than pants if you want to get technical.

Don't buy that shirt. Just find a plain button up (3/4 sleeves will keep you from feeling too "bunched" up and also keep you a little cooler with that jacket on). Plus the more plain button up will come in handy later more than the one you want to buy. If you want to do an empire waist, find a little dressier "camisole type" that doesn't dip low. They look really cute with suits and show you have a fun side as well as a professional side (but only do this if the job isn't uptight).

Something like this is fun, if the job is fun

Ok, took pics. The first one shows that you can see my tatt through light colored shirts, so I'm probably gonna get a colored one instead of white.

Not sure what I'm gonna be doing. Wish I could get a gig with the guy I know that does liquor marketing but I seriously doubt that's going to happen. Maybe I'll see if any of the local bike shops are hiring, but I'd prefer something with better pay. :p

Well back in the day women weren't allowed to wear pants, so when they were first introduced, women who bought them were deemed "liberal" and all that other junk.

That is why they tell you to wear a skirt suit if you're going to an ultra-conservative company for an interview, but you're not a girl so you wouldn't know that.

Lauren you can totally pull off a fun color shirt under a suit Good luck!!!!

I'd not interview at an ultra conservative company, so not much of an issue. Don't want to worry about dealing with that and having to take out my captive bead rings. Like the swarovski crystal beads.

Hahah I didn't figure you to be the one to go ultra-conservative, but I was trying to explain that technicality to seedless since he always seems to think he's right about EVERYTHING.

no problem, the stuff about more conservative companies and the skirts is good to know just in case anyway.

Bike in the pics is dead. Neighbor ran it over, don't have pics of my new one. It's even more of a POS but 250s are so hard to find right now I'm just glad I've got it.

Umm, whoever asked if I have a boyfriend did not check out the photobucket, or they'd have seen a folder named "Kevin"

biggest thing is to keep talking... half the time they dont care how you answer questions, they just want to see that you can think on your feet.... worst thing is to sit there going "ummm... ummm"
